Preposterous but Fun
The story opens in the midst of a mutiny. Things are not going well for the imperial loyalists so the captain of the Imperial ship of the line "Dahak" takes drastic action ensuring that even if he dies, the mutineers will not succeed. The problem is that the mutineers are led by the chief engineer who has some technical savvy of his own. The destruct sequence is begun and all of the rats abandon ship and head for shelter on the nearest planet. That would be earth. The mutineers' plans to reclaim the ship, however, are thwarted and the mutineers are stranded. All of this took place over 50,000 years ago. Since then, the mutineers have subtly controlled the progress of the earth by means of such events as the Hundred Years War, the World Wars, Pol Pot and other such unsavory characters (they are BAD). A desperate group sucked into the mutiny fights a rearguard action for all these millennia. Meanwhile, the ship of the line, devoid of any crew, carries out repairs and hides itself as the moon. All of this is just prolog for the real story. The ship Dahak cannot fulfill its final commands without a crew. It manages to kidnap an earthman, train him as captain and swear him in as an Imperial officer. It is then up to him to resolve the mutiny and, not incidentally, prepare for invading aliens. To do this, our gallant hero is going to have to wipe out political terrorists and quash corrupt politicians. The result is a wild but fun romp filled with action and intrigue. This is a book where it is hard to "suspend the disbelief" but managing to do so is worthwhile for its entertainment value. This is a quick and frivolous read but it is fun.

Nice to see Webers first works.
Not a bad story at all, in fact very sad that the second two books are hard to get individually. Only as the combined 3 book version. Also that it is not available on Audible :( The Narrator is very good as well.

Outstanding read.
This is one of the most enjoyable books that I read in a long time. I hope David is writing a second book in this (hopefully) series.

Deja vu all over again
Yes, I loved the book, both times. Has this been republished, amended, rewritten? It did not show up as a previously purchased book and it’s not in my cloud storageof Kindle books (760). Weird.

I chose THIS Rating because the action in this story is fast and fluid. Anyone who enjoys quick action will like this book. Weber doesn't overdevelop the characters leaving lots of room for imagination.

Excellent
This was one of my first books by Mr. Weber, and I became an avid fan. Since then I've endeavored to read every word he's published. I have everything I can find in audible, to match what I have in print. I can only hope the "Dahak" series will be completed in Audible.

Fantastic Book
Sorry about the misunderstanding I ordered another Audiobook called Heirs of Empire which was totally misrepresented. Your Mutineers Moon was exactly as advertised and extremely good. Thank you.

Great read!
Excellent read - maybe paced a little too fast, but very difficult to put down!Note that the other two books in this series are not currently available on the Kindle, therefore you'd be much better off buying the omnibus edition (Empire from the Ashes) and get the three in one collection of the Dahak trilogy for LESS than the price of this one book on the Kindle.

Decent early Weber novel
Great early Weber novel. Unlike his later novels he does actually move things along rather than taking his time to milk the concept for all its worth. Sadly the opposite is true here and Mr Weber and things move along with such alacrity that many key moments are hardly done justice. Still, if you like sci-fi in a military/political mould with plenty of descriptions of tactics and not too much disregarding of the laws of physics this may be for you.

Surprise Surprise
The Moons an undercover starship. Older than mankind on earth. If that's not a mind blower. The trip goes on with a underground war. Which has gone on almost as long. Between sets of aliens. fighting over the fate of earth.
