Randy Newman -- Anthology, Vol 2: Music for Film, Television and Theater (Piano/Vocal/Chords)

Timely delivery

It is interesting how the vocal/melody lines of his songs don't necessarily match the treble and bass lines. In most songbooks the melody is played with the right hand, but for Newman's songs the right hand is just to accompany the melody. If you want the melody, you either have to sing it or try to work it in. I tend to focus on "Blue Shadows" from The Three Amigos, "I will go sailing no more" from Toy Story, and "My life is good".

It's more difficult than most of the music I play, but I'm working up to the challenge!

This anthology has some songs that are hard to find anywhere else. I would've given this 5 stars, but I've already found a lyric mistake in the first song I've looked at, which is Blue Shadows. Of course, almost every songbook in existence has lyric mistakes, so it's not a big deal.

Intermediate level of Randy Newman songs. I bought the book primarily for “it’s a jungle out”.

I bought this book mainly for "Dexters Tune" which is a piano piece from the soundtrack from the film "Awakenings". This is an inspired, emotive piece of music with an amazingly effective use if dischord. Not too difficult to learn and practice either. Highly recommended.

This is a must have sheet music book for anyone who enjoys Randy Newman's music. It is good value for money and is true to the original scores.
