It was a sweet novella
Not my favorite but it was still good. The things I loved were the fact that the couple was older.*********Spoiler********The thing I didn't care for was how much he talked about his wife. It took away from the story for me. How can I root for these two when every 5 minutes he's talking about or thinking about his dead wife. Another thing I hated was sanders made him sexy and older while she made her saggy tittied, scarred up woman. She didn't make her sound sexy at all. I appreciate the older female but just because we get older doesn't mean we can't still look good. It feels like in society men can age and still be sexy, enter Sean Connery, but women are not viewed the same way AT ALL. It was still a nice story but not one I'll reread

Great novella!
This is a smartly written story that tells what happened after the original Earth ambassador was arrested and jailed and who replaced him because, of course, we're dying to know!I appreciate Ms. Sanders for penning this tale as it continues to world-build her universe where human females are being marketed by Earth's leaders to alien species who are faced with dwindling populations with an awkward male-to-female ratio heavily favoring the males. To be honest, if this situation should ever evolve in our own particular universe, I doubt our world leaders would have done differently. I mean, what else does Earth have? Definitely not technology. We're consuming our natural resources at a rate that we'll be overwhelmed by our own pollution in a few decades. Why not "sell" women via a mate index if we're definitely the ultimate recessive in alien-human hybrids?Or maybe, as one of Ms Sanders' characters pondered, maybe there's a reason why Earth women are fleeing from Earth proper? (Considering how women are treated like garbage that are easily disposable, I'd say he's probably correct. Just check your local newspaper for crimes against women and why women are often abused and killed.)Anyway, we get to meet even more aliens, this time ones with wings and of an avian nature rather than reptilian. (Not to say I don't like my wonderful Edoka because I do!) I will have to say that I appreciate the realism in this story though I will warn you, there are triggers for those who have been abused by spouses and lovers. This is the fourth book of this series that I've read, and I really, really love how this universe is shaping up. I only hope she isn't too busy to continue writing more! It's definitely worth it!

Five Stars after it gets a Full Edit.
Wonderful story, really touched some trigger moments that had me recalling with tears my first marriage. It’s helps you when you can read about a happy ending for a abused woman. The fact that she was such a strong yet feminine woman. Makes it even more believable. I was cheering when she realized she was really free. Then was honestly shocked, and then cheering. When the pre-ending took a sudden surprise twist! Now the only thing that took away from the story, was the absolute large amounts of mental corrections I needed to figure out. They were like little frequent dips back into reality. I was forced to slow down my reading speed, over and over. Due to the frequency of jumbled sentence presentations, or outright missing words that I had to mentally add to the line, or rearrange sentence structures to make sense of the current chapter’s conveyed storyline. Please don’t let proper English stunt your creativity. Let a Editor do it.

Awesome!!
This is a short story of Eliza and Zarik. Zarik is a Tagith male who lost his mate and Eliza is a woman who was in an abusive marriage. She leaves her husband and ends up with the cranky Zarik. Their kids are trying to play matchmaker and hook their parents up. It's a sweet, short story and is worth reading.

It was a pleasure to read thus book!
I sure as hell enjoyed Zerik and Elizabeth love story especially because they were older and not looking to start a new family but enjoy their already existing family as the younger ones started theirs. Loved the message here that love has no age or limits. I want more and can't wait for Gaveth's story. God I just love this writer she delivers what I miss from certain books and for that reason alone I will never stop reading your books MS. S.J. Sanders

Cute
I enjoyed the story. An older woman with a widowed male. No kids to get pregnant with, just enjoy life and each other. With the series having most, if not every couple pregnant, ot was a nice change.

Loved This
I enjoy S.J. Sanders unique books and characters. I want to thank her for writing about an older couple and I wish all writers would do this. Older adults and seniors do continue to love and have sex, not just 18 year old girls with older hunks! Believe it or not! All of the books have teenage girls who have never lived and are just about getting pregnant! Which century is this? I hope other writers are listening.

Good story.
I liked that the couple was an older pair and that Eliza remembered her strength after 25 years, was finally ready to get to safety, found a hot ( no pun intended) guy, and a way to allow infertile women to be on the Index. Older shouldn't mean lonely.I still don't get how humans can have babies with so many species or why humans are affected by the mating bonds so many non humans have. Maybe it was explained in a different story. But then, I'm probably over thinking.

Eliza's rebirth
Better late than never when a husband is abusive for Eliza to finally divorce him! Zerick lost his mate ten years ago and is sad and lonely until a possible second chance.

***Second Chances***
It's a beautiful story of a second chance in love and in life. It's a marriage of two culture and also prejudice is alive and well no matter what you are. It's short and sweet story. Love it.

Not so young.
I really liked because Eliza is 50ish years old, had a abused relationship marriage and finally found strength to leave, found love and a good mate.
