The Seismic Design Handbook

This book is not just for seismic design, I use it as a guide, and to learn how the experts in the field of Structural Engineering design buildings and other structures. What do they look for and how they solve complex structural analysis and design problems.To me the study of this handbook should be a requirement for all graduating structural engineers.

EXCELENTE

This in one of the reference materials allowed in for the California PE, Seismic Exam. The text is very good and has several basic examples, however I did not receive the CD-ROM which was one of the improvements over the previous edition and was to be included ( see book's preface and last page , "How to use the CD-ROM") and some of the figures are fuzzy (scanned and then reproduced?).

El contenido es excelente, ya que está escrito por diferentes especialistas en la materia. Sin embargo, el libro como objeto es de mala calidad, ya que son fotocopias encuadernadas y no trae el CD (aunque la información que contiene se puede conseguir en internet).

I used this book to get me through my university degree course (final year projects and earthquake engineering topics) and found it to be a very valuable resource. It covers absolutely everything you'll need to learn the background, current and future methods of seismic protection, and how to design against it. You really don't need any other resource if you have this book, it's comprehensive like no other. Being hardback its also a lot easier to use than other books in the same area which are softback and constantly close themselves when you're trying to study from them.All in all I was very satisfied with it and I couldn't have got through my degree course without it.
