Informative
Revitalize your energy and rejuvenate your life after reading 'Coconut Oil for Beginners'. It's not magic but the results may seem magical after following coconut oil miracle guide. This book discusses the profound health and beauty benefits of using this ancient oil. An overview on the benefits of coconut oil, opens up the reader's mind to looking at it differently. It is more than just another form of saturated fat. This information guide explains that coconut oil is easily digested and converted to energy as it has MCT (Medium-Chain Triglycerides) unlike LCT (Long-Chain Triglycerides) found in trans fats It explores a new side of using the coconut palm, the 'tree of life'. I found chapter 2 on shopper's guide particularly of relevance as it helps to decide which kind of coconut oil will best fit in the consumer's needs.Summer offers us time to pause, reignite our own glow, and connect more deeply with the life-giving force around us. A good summer read, this book promises to be helpful. It contains about 40 new recipes like the natural coconut-hazelnut coffee creamer and coconut-banana waffles for breakfast. The author provides information on how to use the anti-viral, anti-fungal and anti-bacterial oil in fighting off diseases and reducing stress. The closer our plate is to nature and the further it is from processed foods, the better. Coconut oil is a good substitute to the bad fats in our diet and hence is a great way to lose weight as part of a balanced eating plan. From Coconut Herbal Shampoo to Anti-Aging Super Night Cream about 17 do-it-yourself beauty applications are also provided in the book. For centuries coconut oil has been used as food and medicine by many cultures around the world. Western countries are also beginning to discover its benefits now. This compendium helps to unravel the powerful health benefits of the tropical oil.

Coconut Oil...who knew?
Coconut oil has arrived! Exactly as the title professes, this comprehensive book is just right for those of us who are interested in knowing all of the benefits of coconut oil and want to know why that’s a good thing (besides that it’s delicious). It tells all, from the history of the nut to easy-to-grasp explanations of its many healthful uses; it includes fun facts, tips, and a how-to purchase guide. The scientific explanations are easy to grasp (such as why it’s a “good fat”); I found them to-the-point, interesting and practical. It has lots of fun and delicious food as well as cosmetic recipes (my favorite). This is a cookbook and instructional guide all in one. I have some coconut oil in my pantry, but I can see now that I have underutilized it!

What makes coconut oil 'virgin' and more answers to newbie questions
I've been using coconut oil here and there for a few years but basically just knew what my friends told me about it :). The organization of the book could use some work, but the scope is pretty thorough and it covers a wide range of uses. I can attest to how well it works on hair after mine turned to STRAW when I went snorkeling and coconut oil was an amazing treatment! The recipes are simple and have nice short ingredient lists. It would be helpful to have additional resources listed, but overall, a good concise book that is great for beginners. (And now you can tell your friends WHY coconut oil is such a great choice for so many uses!)

coconut blessings
When the book Coconut Oil for Beginners was recommended to me, I had no idea how happy I would be after reading it. As is typical with middle-aged Americans, I have found it extremely difficult to maintain a lean belly. This short book gets right to the point about how coconut oil helps with weight loss, and it debunks the myth started in the 1960's that all saturated fats are bad. Apparently, those experiments were conducted using non-virgin coconut oil, and many of the refining processes can create unwanted and unhealthy extra ingredients. In truth, coconut oil has medium-chain triglycerides which are absorbed easily by the body without requiring insulin. These medium-chain triglycerides are small and easily turned into readily available energy. The small size is also the reason coconut oil can be used for soap, shampoo, conditioner, skin moisturizer and rejuvenator. It is small enough to actually be absorbed into the skin and hair roots.I read this book in about an hour, but I am not finished with it. I plan to buy some virgin coconut oil tomorrow and start using it for soap, shampoo, conditioner, anti-aging skin moisturizer, increased energy, and weight loss. It even reduces fatigue and stress!

Just ok.
This book is ok as an overview, if you know nothing about coconut oil or mcts. The author is about 20 years behind on weight loss and hanging on to the "calories in calories out" paradigm, rather than emphasizing hormones. Very light weight book without references. Some like that. I don't.

coconut delightful book
This really is a very interesting book on coconut full of information. Most people know coconut as mainly a hairy hard vessel you have to bang a hole in order to drink the delicious milk. Not usually fresh either after it's long journey. We all know the dried desiccated flesh used in cakes etc but not really much knowledge on what to do with it otherwise. The book is full of useful info especially on how to cook with the fat. Ideas on how to use it are plentiful and recipes look good. Just be sure you have a measurement container that does American cup sizes etc! Yes,I would recommend the book without hesitation . Most of us are now interested in what we put into and onto our bodies and even though I have lived in countries which grow coconuts and am familiar with a lot of ways ,there was plenty here that was new to me and fascinating.
