Greta starter book for Bass Drum & other syncopated beats
I started with this book back in the 80's and got back in to drumming in the last few months after a lengthy hiatus. I could not find my original copy so a bought a new one.I like the book & formatIt's got a great bunch of foundational rhythms and patters to work up your basic repertoire .It's great as a reminder or skill builder for patterns and grooves you may not have thought of without the prompt. For me it was a confidence builder as I ripped through the first 20 pages the first night I had it.All l that said there are all sorts of interactive music learning tools out there that did not exist when the book was written. However, it's ~$8.00 book not $20/month subscription or $30-50/week lessons that's great for the self-motivated woodshedder.

Great for coordination
This is a fun book I use in my drum lessons. It’s so much fun I jump ahead one or two pages every week just to see what’s coming up and to see if I can do it. Nice big print and the bars are wide so you can see the descriptions of each note and labels. Don’t think it’s easy but it’s definitely fun.

Great Book!
This is a really nice book for anyone looking to hop into the world of rock rudiments. I bought this for my son as he is taking private lessons and am helping him practice the beats in this book currently. There are pages on pages of things to go over and a lot of cool rudiments utilizing the snare as well as the high hat. I would definitely recommend this book for any beginner drummer!

A little known book
This was one of my first drum set books and compared to much of the fluff books out there, it is a VERY good Book#1 for drum set students. The beats are “archaic “ but still used in the 21st century books with glossy pictures..Things get pretty interesting in book #2. Another little known book is the Jack Pickering “Drummers Cook Book.” I do recommend the book!

This is the best full drum set music book I have ever used
This is the best full drum set music book I have ever used. When it comes to learning or teaching rock grooves and learning to read music, this is the one! The notation is spread all the way across the page and at first I wasn't sure. But both me and my students were a little confused but once you get used to it, it is the easiest way to decipher notated drum music.

Confusing
I’ve been playing drums for years bought this just to be able to refresh. The way they count 1 e A a never seen it like this I find it confusing instead of 1e & d and they highlight ones that are not to be played. Truthfully I will not buy book two because of this
