When refinishing fiberglass, either due to removing oxidation or fixing areas of repaired gelcoat, the gloss meter gives me an invaluable guide as to what and how much to wet sand, compound and ultimately polish. It tells me when wet sanding or compounding at any particular level is complete and I can move onto a finer surface treatment. Without this, I would end up removing far more gelcoat than needed and take lots more time in getting a job done.
