ONLY GOOD, NO NEGATIVES
I built a smoker a few years back started smoking a lot of bbq and was looking for something to mainly shred pulled pork and to a lesser degree handle handle meat without gloves or it touching my hands. These were, are, and will continue to be awesome. The handles are soft and grippy. Very comfortable and have never slipped. I have held some near 15lb pork butts with them and have felt no give with them, they are super strong. The points of the claws are sharp but not needle point sharp. Be careful stabbing but there's no risk of pin pricking yourself. They shred pulled pork (smoked beef shank also) effortlessly. I've tried the claw knuckle type ones also and these are way better in my opinion. They give you more leverage, make less mess, and are easier to clean. They even come with hard protective plastic sleeves for the claws. Highly recommended!Just a footnote, they are not 100%oven safe as my wife accidentally baked and forgot she has stored them on the lower rack on top of a platter. The guard sleeves melted badly. The rubber/silicone on thd handles melted a bit. They however did not warp and are still usable, just not cosmetically perfect anymore!

Better than any bear claws out there!
Best meat shredders ever! I bought these for my husband as a Christmas present since he is always smoking large cuts of meat. He originally wanted the bear claws. I honestly didn't think the design of the bear claws would have been sufficient for all the different types of meat he cooks with especially the tougher, larger cuts like pork shoulder or briskets. Plus, the bear claw design forces your knuckles to get right next to the hot, messy cuts of meat and they are made out of plastic! Definitely not husband-proof. He tends to put all kinds of his tools through a lot of hard use so cheap material products DON'T last very long in this house. So I stumbled across these bad boys and instantly thought that these would be husband-proof. He fell in love with them the minute he tore into his first brisket. First off, the teeth on this baby are METAL which is something that can definitely hold up to his aggressive shredding unlike the plastic of bear claws and tough cuts are a breeze. Plus, they actually pierce INTO the metal which gives you the ability to tear the meat apart with greater ease. Also, the handles keep his hands clean and away from the heat of the meat and the orange covers keep me from stabbing myself while putting away other utensils in the same drawer throughout the week. Overall, the gift benefits us both. He can effortlessly shred the smoked meat now and I get to munch out to my heart's content.

Bigger than expected
I thought these rakes would be a little smaller, that I could actually work with them inside the crock pot. These are fairly large but get the job done nonetheless. Shreds meat effortlessly. This is a great product if you have large amounts of meat to shred...for me with just a 3 person household this is a bit of overkill. But, it works great and made my job a lot easier.

Why ???
I can't figure out why anyone would even consider the nylon/plastic/whatever material pulling devices. Other reviews state that those can melt, break, and are hard to handle. These are easy to hold, the handle is about 7 inches long. The prongs are very sturdy and measure a speck over 1.5 inches long and about 1/8th inch thick. They appear to be very securely embedded in the head of the hadle. Not wimpy prongs that can bend! The ends are extremely sharp. The covers are rigid plastic (?) and not a thin flexible covering as they appear to be in the photo. By the looks of these, I can't see how they would ever break or wear out. . I was a little afraid to spend so much more for these, but again, you get what you pay for. These are well worth the price. My only question is what kind of surface should I put the meat on to shred it? Wood and plastic cutting boards would get shredded along with the meat if you press down too hard as you shred. Foil roasting pans are not right either. I haven't tried glass yet, or granite, and I wouldn't want to scratch any stainless steel pans. In the mean time, I use one of those flexible cutting boards and go slowly and carefully and don't press down too hard. UPDATE: I found a great ceramic lasagna pan HIC 13" x 9" x 2.5" Lasagna Pan, White that works with these forks, and no fears about scratching the surface.

Makes short time of large jobs, but, doesn't get pulled pork into smaller pieces.
We do a pig roast for Labor Day and it's always a challenge to pull the pork. I got these and the folks loved em, they made a long, tedious job go by very quickly. The only concern is that they are great at pulling large sections of pork. If you want finer pieces of pulled pork then you've got to do a lot of work with them or get something else.I would recommend this product and would buy another if needed.

Great tools--easy to use!
My husband enjoys smoking pork shoulders for groups of family and friends, so coming across these and seeing how easy and effective they are to use was a joy! I love that they have covers with them so they're easy to slide into a utensil drawer without worry of damaging them or anything else in the drawer, and the tines don't get hung up on other utensils. They go right into the dishwasher as well. I just love these tools! They save so much time and effort over shredding with forks and fingers.

and are not comfortable to use
Got this for my husband who is a caterer. He said these hurt the hands, and are not comfortable to use. They don't come with a cleaning brush so they are a pain to clean as well.

Will work in a pinch
Once again, I thought I was giving Him such an awesome gift. These did the pulled pork okay, but I would not agree that it was "effortless." We strongly preferred the kind you hold with your fingers around the base (hard to describe) instead of these longer handles. This was not just my opinion - we had several going and these were the least favorite. Fair warning: this was written by a vegetarian. I'm relaying what meat-a-tarians thought too, though. ;) haha
