Celtic Lenormand

This is a stunningly original and nuanced Lenormand. Staying true to the Lenormand symbols, Chloë McCracken expands on the traditional deck without taking anything away from it, so those who don't want to broaden their horizons beyond the formulaic can still be appeased. Gorgeous artwork embellishes each card without detracting from the images and their messages. Instead, the artwork, additional imagery, and colors amplify and intensify the cards’ meanings, adding welcome layers of depth and stimulating the reader's intuition. The additional cards are a true delight. As McCracken explains, these can be included or removed as desired, keeping a traditional 36-card deck or cleverly enlarging it to a 45-card deck or anything in between. The options are fabulous, as they give readers choices to use at their discretion. For example, there are three Birds cards. I don't believe the intention was for readers to use all three of the Birds cards in every reading but to provide alternatives with different subtleties that allow more flexibility depending on a querent's situation and needs or the reader's intuition. You can select one Birds card, or two, or all three if you like -- but you certainly don't have to be confined to a single option. How wonderful is that!There are also additional cards for the Man and the Woman and two cards for the Child. Not only does this allow for same-sex readings, but it also provides the opportunity to address more people, whether in a family, personal situation, or work environment. Do you need to use all these cards in a reading? Certainly not! You can pick the one you prefer or that your querent prefers. But do you have choices now? Absolutely! And that's one of the many aspects of this deck that make it so phenomenal — it incorporates a cornucopia of options and brings Lenormand into the twenty-first century. And for cat people, there's now a Cat card as well as a Dog card. You can use one or the other, omit the Cat card, or include both, since each animal represents slightly different meanings.And the book ... now THIS is a book! It's not the typical LWB that accompanies most decks. It's beautifully done and bound, with small black-and-white images of each of the cards. About three pages of text are devoted to each card, covering an abundance of knowledge, insights, key words, spells, affirmations, spiritual associations, timing, and the dark and light sides inherent in each card, plus so much more. Anything you might want to use a deck for, McCracken has you covered. If you just want to use this deck as a standard Lenormand, nothing is stopping you from doing so. But if you want to look beyond convention and widen your perspectives, this deck will help you do that too.The cards themselves are a joy to use. They are ideal for a Grand Tableau in terms of size — small, narrow, and easy to handle. The stock and finish are superb –– velvety and sumptuous. The cards are quite sturdy but thin enough to shuffle your favorite way. The finish is a smooth, silky matte that seems to enhance the colors and artwork to make everything pop. The images look like paintings by one of the old masters! The card backs are a light ochre with a light brown Celtic knot design in the center and around the borders. Even though reversals aren’t done in Lenormand, the backs are reversible (if that matters to you). The cards are edged in an elegant silver that doesn’t flake or come off in any way –– this edging is gorgeous and not something I’ve seen in other decks. The box is a durable cardboard with a snug-fitting (almost too snug-fitting!) lift-off top and interior insert to hold the cards (with a finger-cutout to help you lift them from the box). The box holds both the deck and the book. If I have any complaint, it’s that the lid is so tight that it’s a bit difficult to get off.McCracken is clearly a scholar of the Lenormand, Celtic history, and pagan spirituality, but she's also a brilliant teacher with a profusion of knowledge and experience. Any readers who are open to learning something new, stretching their intellectual and spiritual muscles, honing their skills, or simply treating themselves to an extraordinarily beautiful, inventive, unique, and compelling deck, this one’s for you. Yes, it’s a traditional Lenormand in every way, and yet it gifts us with a profundity far exceeding that. Buy it not just to admire the imagery or to add to your card collection but to also use for your readings (or spiritual practice) on a regular basis.

This deck has helped me get a feeling or sense of Lenormand in a new way. The images are just so alive and look great when used on camera or with video call readings. They add a bit of the intuitive flair that tarot can give with its beautiful artwork. I know Lenormand is read differently from tarot but if you are coming from tarot you might really appreciate having these images to help bring the meanings to mind.I currently use them to do something that I haven't done with any of my Lenormand decks - as affirmations and guidance each day. This is made possible because the guidebook includes so much information on spiritual meanings, affirmations, dark and light meanings etc. So even though Lenormand works with more than one card, each of these cards comes alive in the images and also with the guidebook. There is very nice correlation and direction that you can find in the cards e.g. two riders of different genders riding in different directions, where each of the people cards are looking.The cards and book are sturdy and come in a nice box. This deck helped enhance my understanding and appreciation of Lenormand in new ways. I own three other Lenormand decks and haven't gotten that from the cards. I keep in all the additional cards as each extra card has its own varied meaning for e.g each 'birds' card has a different aspect connected to communication. Very worthwhile to add to any collection. You can use it as a first deck but be sure to get a Lenormand book as well to make things better.

This deck is awesome. The images are very easy to decipher on what card is what. The images are also fun, and remind me of an otherworldly fantasy realm. It's really easy to get lost in these cards. Along with the typical 36 cards, you get some extra cards that can help provide more depth to your readings if you choose to add them in. I'm a big collector and reader of cards, and so I have over 40 decks currently in my collection; out of all of the guidebooks I've gotten with them, this guidebook is one of the best. It's a very decent size and has so much information stashed in it. This deck would also be great for a beginner who can't afford an additional book to go along with the cards. The card stock is nice and shuffles like a dream. I was very impressed with this deck and would definitely recommend.

Great deck beautifully illustrated with the Celtic culture. I love the extra card versions for the rider, dog, birds, and people. There are additional meanings added to the traditional ones that add a different depth and allows you to decipher the difference between the different depictions of the same cards such as the dog vs the cat. My only complaints are that the box is hard to open. Adding a ribbon to the inside to pull open would solve this problem. I also had a hard time understanding the artwork of the tower card and crossroads, it’s not as obvious as traditional decks but it’s not detrimental and the interpretations are unique from other decks but stick to tradition only adding more depth to the card meanings. Once you read the interpretations you understand why the imagery was chosen and it makes perfect sense. I love the way she weaves Celtic traditions into the cards. Has become a favorite in my Lenormand collection. The artwork really stands out and is gorgeous.

Wow! The cards are beautiful and very accurate and easy to read with intuitively. The book is the best I have read so far on Lenormand - the easiest and simplest to understand. So I am very happy with this purchase!

Carte de petites tailles, qualité bonne,en plus des 36 cartes classiques du lenormand,on a une carte serpent qui mue, on a également deux autres cartes oiseaux ..(chouettes et poules). Une autre carte arbre mais avec de la neige. Une autre carte animale de compagnie avec un chat. Également en plus une carte homme une carte femme et aussi pour les enfants une carte garçon ou fille. Je trouve que ce jeu est très complet et offre beaucoup de possibilités je le recommande.

Dieses Deck habe ich seit zwei Jahren auf dem Wunschzettel gehabt und nie bestellt, da mich die Karten Herz und Ring auf Grund ihrer Andersartigkeit irgendwie abgeschreckt haben.ABER: ich bin unglaublich froh, ihm nun doch eine Chance gegeben zu haben. Hätte ich von Anfang an tun sollen, denn es hätte mir einige Fehlkäufe ersparrt.Die Qualität der Karten ist, nach erster Beurteilung sehr gut. Sie sind fest und dicker, keine Karten die schon beim ersten wilderen Mischen (vor allem wenn man bevorzugt die Karten springen zu lassen) in der Mitte knicken. Die Motive sind wundervoll und auch mit Herz und Ring freunde ich mich an.Toll finde ich ebenso die Möglichkeit diverser Zusatz- und/oder Tauschkarten:- 5. Der Baum: zwei Mal vorhanden, Sommer und Winter- 7. Die Schlange: zwei Mal vorhanden, Verwicklungen, Komplikationen, Rivalin ODER Erneuerung, Transformation, Heilung (große Klasse, lasse beide im Deck, so fällt mir die Einordnung leichter)- 12. Die Vögel: drei Mal vorhanden, als Singvögel, Eulen oder Hühner- 13. Das Kind: zwei Mal vorhanden, als Junge oder Mädchen- 18. Der Hund: zwei Mal vorhanden, als Hund oder Katze- 28. & 29. Herr & Dame: je zwei Mal vorhanden: einmal auf Häuserposition ansehend oder Rücken an RückenDiese Karten fühlen sich einfach nur toll an. Kein verkleben beim oder schwergängiges Mischen. Sie sind schon etwas kleiner, aber für mich mit meinen kleinen Händen perfekt.Tatsächlich habe ich mich das erste mal in ein Kartendeck verliebt.Das beiliegende Booklet ist auch ein Schatz, leider nur auf englisch aber auch hier würde ich denjenigen ohne Englischsprachkenntnisse den Google Translator ans Herz legen. Denn auch hier, die stimmigsten Erklärungen, die ich bisher in einem mitgelieferten Booklet gelesen habe.Einfach nur top und ganz klare Kaufempfehlung von mir.
