Description
- Carbide Turning Insert 60° Triangular shape, 3/8" Inscribed Circle, 5/32" Thick, 1/64" Corner Radius, 0.173" through hole
- Grade & Application: C5 Multilayer TiN/TiC/TiCN/TiN coated grade. Provides longer tool life than uncoated grades. Used for turning and milling carbon and alloy steels, tools steel and stainless steel
- The coating allows the cutting edge of the insert to cleanly pass through the material without having the material gall or stick to it. The coating also helps to decrease the temperature associated with the cutting process and increase the life of the tool
- Chip Breaker Type CM-Medium - Screw-On Style Insert
- 60 degree Triangle Single Sided insert with molded chipbreaker
- Used for semi-finishing and finishing on a wide range of materials
Solid carbide inserts will leave a better surface finish on the part, and allow faster machining than high-speed steel or other tool steels. Carbide tools can withstand higher temperatures at the cutter-workpiece interface than standard high-speed steel tools (which is a principal reason for the faster machining). Carbide is usually superior for the cutting of tough materials such as carbon steel or stainless steel, as well as in situations where other cutting tools would wear away faster, such as high-quantity production runs. The main categories where carbide inserts are used are engineered components, wear parts, and tools and tool blanks.
