Authentic, fresh Shiro
We purchased this Shiro because our usual supply from Ethiopia got interrupted. We were very pleased with the quality of this product. This Shiro has great aroma and flavor, and we highly recommend it.

Really good!
The taste is authentic and took about 30 min from prepping the veggies to switching off the stove. It comes together fast. My only pet peeve- I wish they put the recipe on the pack. I believe it is in the Q&A and I have to keep checking amazon Q&A for the recipe!! Other than that, I'll be a repeat customer.

spicy, complex
We have an Ethiopian child living with us right now and he requested Shiro Wat. I was intimidated because I had never made it before, but it was very easy with this mix and he loved it! It was spicier than I'd anticipated, although that could also have been the niter kibbeh I used. Anyway, it's pretty great how easily this makes a chickpea stew!

I love Shiro, but this product has a sour taste that differs from the traditional Ethiopian Shiro I’m accustomed to. It might appeal to some, but it wasn’t to my preference.

My Ethiopian meal is now complete.
SHIRO is on of my favorite dishes when I have Ethiopian food. This is one of the easiest sides to make and my meal felt complete eating this with the injera, over and over... and over again. You can add your aromatics (onions, garlic and maybe tomatoes if you want) before mixing in the SHIRO. The flavor is good on its own or you can add some spice to it also. Many recipe suggestions on YouTube but this mix is a good foundation.
