Super Helpful, formula for how many daily calories YOU (personalized to your body) should have, go to snacks
This cookbook is super helpful! Maria gives ideas of ways to eat tasty things but not overly healthnut. She's helpful in a way that works for me. Like instead of ice cream if you like sweet things try red grapefruit. It's better for you and you won't feel like crap after you've eaten it. Or instead of chips and cheese (my number 1 go-to snack) Maria suggests "Everygirl nachos" which are simply a variety of peppers sliced open and added refried beans and shredded taco mix cheese to. I tried it, yes, it's not chips, but it's a vegetable and eating a vegetable vs. taco chips will help you in the long run. If you want to be really good just skip all of the additives that the "everygirl nachos" recipe has. I just did the pepper slices and some low-fat cheese and that did the trick for me. In this book she also gives you snacks that are great for the morning or on the go snacks. She talks about the formula to determine daily calories. This I found to be SUPER HELPFUL as everyone is different. Overall, this book is a great source to help you get on the right track if you're not sure of trying an actual full-on diet. I'm also reading the Hungry Girl cookbooks!

Another Winner from Maria
I loved the EveryGirl's Guide to Life, so I thought it would be hard to follow. Maria hit's it out of the park with EveryGirl's Guide to fitness. This is not a diet book, it is not a "drop weight quick" scheme. Instead this book (which I have read cover to cover and waited for anxiously on pre-order for months) argues for small changes in diet and fitness that, cumulative, have a large impact over the course of your life. The advice is sound, focusing on improved food choices (i.e. REAL FOOD from the ground), and moderation. In true Maria style, she not only gives you solid advice, but dozens of practical and motivating tips on how to incorporate these ideas into your own life.I love her books because she is practical. There are tips and tricks, truly, for every girl and for every budget.Maria is one of those people I look at and admire her work ethic and the brand she has built for herself. Even apart from the diet and fitness, there are excellent life tips to make you more productive and balanced. I highly recommend this book for anyone looking for self-improvement, inspiration, or anyone who just wants to gain a little insight into what it takes to be such a success.

LOVE this book!
I am not a reader. Just needed to point that out. I do, however, love fitness and good nutrition and try to follow a healthy lifestyle. I went "Paleo" over 2 years ago and will never go back. Even though I have a food lifestyle that I follow, I am still open-minded to all ways of eating and living. I feel that you can take tips and tricks from all sorts of lifestyles to create your own plan. This is exactly what Maria does in her book. It's such an easy, light read with bright pictures of her and family - a little family history and insight to her life, that before you know it, you're a few chapters in! She gives you what works for her but shows you how to tailor it to your own. It's very realistic and livable and she gives great, everyday tips. She just seems like a well-rounded and grounded dose of knowledge. Even though she will openly admit right away in the book that she is not a certified trainor and/or nutritionist, she's an "everyday" girl and that to me, is the best kind of person to get advice from. She is Greek and I am excited to keep reading for her family recipes as well :)

Maria Shares All! Her honesty and passion for sharing her knowledge is truly a gift for all readers!
Maria is the real deal! Reading about her experiences and how she struggled is something we can all relate to. Her outlook on life is really inspiring. I love the layout of the book, definitely easy to read and the photos are fabulous! My favorite is the EveryGirl Tips/Advice. If you take just a few of these with you each day, it can really make a difference. I've converted to hot water and love how it makes me feel! I also vow not to engage in mental violence again, you need to read the book to know what I mean :). The recipes are amazing, an array of colors and whole grains make eating from the earth beautiful and tasty! The "Fluffy Greek Zucchini Patties" are delicious!! Making good choices on day-to-day basis is the start...I think we all get caught up with staying on a perfect plan but managing the bumps along the road is more practical. With Maria's advice and contributions from so many people in the entertainment/health/fitness industry we can all make better choices and strive for a healthy life.I recommend this book for teens and for all women!

I like Maria but not the book...
I really like and admire Maria Menounos but I was so disappointed in this book for so many reasons:-She overplays being overweight at one time. Her prior stature of 5'7" and 160 lbs isn't skinny but I wouldn't say that she was "dangerously close to being seriously overweight." There are probably lots of women out there that wish they were 5'7" and 160 lbs.-The book starts off with her infamous Extra bikini photo. The false modesty around that whole thing really bugged me. She knew that she looked amazing and had no problem posing in bikinis for magazines, etc. yet called this experience "mortifying"...so "mortifying" that she included a full page photo in the first chapter of the book.-Like the reviewer below, I agree that she referenced her dad's diabetes too often. She mentions several times how he was pronounced dead more than once. I'm sure she's very proud of her dad, but that background could have stayed in the first one or two chapters.-She includes an interview with Perez Hilton as if he is an inspiration for weight loss. Isn't he the same person that made fun of overweight celebrities and magnified and circled their cellulite on his blog?-She talks about keeping a detailed food diary on paper, and only later mentions apps that do this for you but then incorrectly refers to the app as "Fitness Pal" instead of "MyFitnessPal".I was surprised by all the five star reviews that were posted so quickly after the book's release. I also can't help but wonder if this is Maria's publicist at work.

Fab and sensible healthy eating book
It's quite rare for me to review a non-fiction book. I just love the fiction and it is even rarer for me to review a diet book. If I'm honest, I have a real issue with diet books, especially as in my old bookselling days, January brought a slew of faddy diet books promising a new year and a new you. Quite what was wrong with the old you, I never understood. So it is refreshing to have a sensible book about diet. The book is broken down into highly visual sections. The first covers Foundation, and letting go of whatever it is that is stopping us from losing weight. This was such a great section, particularly the piece around guilt and choosing to let it go.The book is then separated into food and fitness with each section containing helpful, and common sense advice. It is packed to the gills with tips from celebrities and experts. But the star of the book is Maria herself. She is down to earth and comes across as someone you could imagine having a fun chat with over a couple of cocktails. We get her glimpse into her home and family life. And whilst she may have a successful TV career, she is down-to-earth with a strong sense of family and where she came from. All in all, if you are on the hunt for a book delivered by a relatable author, packed full of knowledge and sound advice, I would definitely recommend this. I've very much enjoyed reading this and have very much enjoyed boring my husband senseless with the refrain 'Maria says'.

Interesante
Un libro comprado de segunda mano con solo unas arrugas en la tapa por un precio muy bajo. El contenido es bastante inspirador aunque se da mucho bombo a ella misma y las rectas que incluye no me parecen muy interesantes.

Great book written for "normal" women
Great book written for "normal" women. Good read, plenty of information and ideas - not at all patronising or full of the usual diet nonsense and its clear that Maria does know what she's talking about - given her own weight loss story. Would recommend this book to any women looking to lose weight, tone up and still live whilst doing it!
