BOSCH HS1936 16 In. R-Tec Star Point Chisel Twist SDS-max Hammer Steel,Silver

Used with Dewalt DCH775 Sds Max and worked great. Using it more for chipping out grooves but I think you’d really have to try to ruin this

I had the pleasure of breaking apart tile floor, concrete and cement steps, walkways and slab using my SDS Max and a light weight jack hammer during the last month. Unlike the other Bosch R-Tec bits I tried, this one performs far better than it generic Monkey King counterpart I reviewed earlier.I was able to hammer out 7 "holes" far faster than both the Monkey King and Bosch bull point chisels. There was noticeable reduction in vibration and was a pleasure to work with. I guessing its performace is attributable to the design which seems to extract the debris and fine dust better from the holes. However, at the end of the day, I actually got more use out of the Monkey King because the metal appears to be harder allowing it to keep its edge longer.This Bosch R-Tec's self sharpening feature is disappointing because it not only did not stay sharp but blunted to almost a mushroom shape. Its twisted design makes resharpening on a grinding wheel more difficult compared to the normal bull point if you are trying to create or maintain the original shape.Until the point dulled and performance decreased significantly, this was the best point chisel of the 3 bits I used.

I purchased this bit to add to my collection of usable tools. Bosch forgot to clean the grinding burr off the second angle of the bull point. It is a good thing that I had a carbide grinding wheel on the old grinder to take this burr off. The burr went through the hardening process furnace and it was a tough little sniggle to remove. I haven't used Bosch tools much and the bull point and flat chisels will do the job. I would have given a 5 star if it was not for this inspection miss.

This Bosch Star Point Chisel Twist bit is very strong and will last a very long time. Anytime I buy any kind of hammer bits, or any type of drill bits, I always buy Bosch when I can. These will never let you down, and are worth every penny !

The length of the chisel is 15-1/2 inch, and that is not the usable length. Once it is secured on rotary hammer, it'll be 12-inch +-, depends on the rotary hammer that you use. It does not do a better job than a regular bullpoint chisel. The twisted style on the sharp point does not add rotation or power. It still is a solid chisel, it does the job. The description should include usable length info.

This thing can't be stopped! Plows through granite, concrete, and doesn't "dull." I quoted dull because the design is smarter than wedging into the material - it just pushes and twists breaking whatever gets in the way. My stone mason ended up borrowing it after using up two other chiseling bits and says it is the best he's used in 20 years. About 8 hours of continuous use on it and still going.

Fits the sds max chuck perfectly and makes quick work out of removing a tile floor and walls for a bathroom renovation.

i have wrapped it in tape and a cloth , a bit loud and hand jarring .

Works well when new but seems to be slow once it's worn down a bit. The first one I received came out of a hole red hot and the point was deformed like a marchmallow. I got a replacement and this one hasn't deformed but it seems slow. Also, the 16 inch length is not comfortable to work with for long periods.

Work as expected.I used tool to break up concrete 2.5 feet below ground level in fence poles.Tool was able to break up a 1 ft by 1ft rock in 4 inch at a time.I wish that Bosch offer the same tool > 16 inches length to make the Bosch demolition hammer and Bosch bit much more effective in myapplication.

Great Bosch product at great price, better than any local hardware shop.
