These are what you want if you're just getting into wood carving. They come incredibly sharp and feel incredibly sturdy and well crafted. I have no doubt these will last me the rest of my life.Only thing I would warn about is that these are more suited for medium/larger details and you'll need some smaller tools for really fine detail. This isn't really a knock on the product but is something to be aware of.

The good - These are competently made. They are made with the integrity of skilled carvers, which I think is a high complement for carving tools. Sharp as anything I can imagine. I enjoy using them.I use these at work to cut mortises for door hinges.The bad - the blades chip and dull after several uses. that is the trade-off for affordable tools at this level of precision and sharpness. (I'm on my 3rd set.)DO NOT use them to pry up the wood shavings as I did. They will snap.

For the price this is a great buy.

I expected a bit more from a Japanese manufactured chisel set. Japan to me exude QUALITY above all else.The bigger round chisel malforformed and not straight edge. I will have to reshape, by sharpening , this myself. At $9 a chisel, I expected more. I rebought another round to see if it also has the same issue. Also, it would be great to let the consumer know what sizes are in this set so we can label them, so if we have to re buy we know what sizes to buy again.

These are my favorite tools ever for block carving. I use these for Printmaking and I will never get another kind of kit. These are great and super sharp so be careful! They are great for laminate blocks!

Arrived with damaged case, while tools are still functional, case was a big reason of going with this version.Tools are sharp, smooth handles, and decent for the price.

A must buy for woodcut.
