This silver dip is very convenient but it is not a polish, it removes tarnish. Use it carefully wearing rubber gloves to avoid skin contact. Open a window if at all possible to avoid the smell.Use this to remove tarnish very carefully, and immediately rinse the item. Do not use with pearls or soft stones as it may harm the stone.It is best for dipping fork tines or just a spoon that has gotten very tarnished from foods that contain egg.This is not a polish nor a substitute for silver polish. I only use this if a customer brings in an item for repair or polishing and it is black with tarnish. This product does remove the black oxidation, but leaves silver dull and lifeless.The design will no longer have black in the recesses. Do not leave in the solution more than a few minutes at most.You will still need silver polish. I recommend 3M Tarni-Shield..
