No doubt an acquired taste, like drinking very dry wine. Fills a key gap in knowledge of secular medieval music. Unfortunately, it doesn't sound very musically entertaining to modern ears. Southern troubadour ballads are more musically accessible and would probably be a first choice in French secular courtly music.

This is difficult music to perform and they do a great job. The booklet comes with all the lyrics in several languages.
