Parkland 5 Drawer Dresser, Espresso

BUYER BEWARE!!!!Finally, I found a company whose customer service department makes my cable company's customer service department look good! (that's sarcasm)We ordered this dresser approximately 2.5 months ago and after unpackaging it, we found that a drawer slide was damaged. Because we had already unpacked this large item, and I'm comfortable replacing the drawer slide, we decided to try to contact the manufacturer for a replacement part.... (after all, the first piece of paper you see says "do not return to store, call us first") BIG MISTAKE....Don't let the "Baby Italia" name fool you, this item is made by "Lajobi Inc". Their customer service is HORRIBLE.If you need to call then, god help you (and it doesn't matter which god you believe in because not even they can help you). Their number is: 1-888-266-2848. You better make sure that you have hour(s) to waste. [no exaggeration, on one of my calls, I waited on hold for more than 5 hours!] Plan to sit on hold for a long, long time before being disconnected without warning. You'll hear the message, "..We are experiencing heavier than normal call volume at this time...", but it doesn't matter what day of week or what time you call, you will just sit on hold for >1 hour until they disconnect you. (every few minutes you are given the option leave a voice mail - which they will NOT return)The hold message tells you to visit their website, "lajobi.com", but that website does not work. Even the redirect from their parent company's website (http://www.kidbrands.com/our-brands) does not work! Here are two websites that do work:1. http://lajobi-industries.pissedconsumer.com/ - an entire website dedicated to pissed consumers of this company2. http://www.bbb.org/new-jersey/Business-Reviews/furniture-manufacturers/lajobi-industries-in-cranbury-nj-16002598/ - Lajobi's "F" rating with the BBB.If you need to email them, any email sent to the address in the directions/manual goes unanswered...The best part about this: Amazon's customer service will allow a return/replacement! (so the one star goes to Amazon, not the manufacturer) [Thank you Amazon]------------------------------------------------------In the interest of fairness, had there not been a broken part and had their customer service not been HORRIBLE, we probably would have given then item a 4-5 star rating. So if you want to take your chances that the item will arrive undamaged and you will never need their customer service, then go ahead an gamble.Also, it should be noted that the dresser ships without the 4 feet installed and you can optionally install them. If you don't want little hands under the dresser and you're on hard wood, you can buy little felt pads or sliders at your local hardware store for <$10. (or i'm sure you can find them here on Amazon.com too) Without the feet, the dresser sits fine directly on carpet (which is how we have it now)------------------------------------------------------I believe my review is accurate and truthful to the best of my knowledge. If there is a factual error, please let me know and I will correct it. (which I DOUBT there will be)

The dresser itself is decent, but the fact that LaJobi went out of business and we cannot get spare parts is aweful. I called Graco customer support and they told me that LaJobi made the dressers for them. They told me that they will not support spare parts requests. Otherwise, I would have assigned more stars.The main purpose of my review is to potentially help others. We found that the slider mechanisms on the side of the drawers and inside of dresser that allow the drawers to slide in and out were defective. Obviously, we could not get spare parts to fix them. I checked a couple of hardware stores and found sliders that probably would have worked. Astonishingly though, Home Depot has exactly the same sliders on the shelf, standard in stock. I installed them and could even use the same holes that already existed for the screws. I am just hoping this review will help someone else who is in the same boat and not sure how to replace the sliders.

The dresser is beautiful and sturdy, although ordering it online may be somewhat of a gamble if you are in a hurry to receive a perfect item (it could take more than one delivery to get a perfect one). My first dresser arrived badly damaged. Amazon customer service was fantastic about fixing the problem. Within three minutes, the rep had arranged for the damaged dresser to be picked up and a new one delivered a few days later, with no additional expense to me. I was very impressed. The second dresser arrived in almost perfect condition. The bottom drawer was off the track but went back on easily. The top drawer is a bit uneven (there's a small gap at the top corner), but I believe that I can very easily fix the problem by adjusting the track. Shouldn't be a big deal, so I chose to keep the dresser instead of going through the hassle and wait time to get another replacement. The rep told me that if this one arrived damaged, he would be happy to issue a refund. I loved having that option. Amazon customer service is beyond amazing. I didn't even bother calling LaJobi/Babi Italia after reading the other customer's review regarding their horrible customer service. I went straight to Amazon and am glad I did so. I highly recommend the dresser. It's gorgeous and is priced well. The only thing to consider is whether or not you have the patience and time to risk having to wait for a second delivery in the event of receiving a damaged piece of furniture. Both of my dressers arrived with perfect finishes- not a scratch or sing on either one. I was pleased with that as well as the rich color. The dresser really is beautiful.
