DON'T LET THE FUN COLOR MISLEAD YOU -- KNIFE STAYS SERIOUSLY SHARP, even after 5 years!!
This knife has stayed very sharp after almost 5 years of use and is highly recommended!! In fact, I like it so well that I just bought a second citrus knife, so that I always have one clean & ready to use. This knife works well for citrus, of course, but its serrated edge slices many other foods quite well. Tonight I used it for tomatoes and basil (since the red tomato knife is waiting in the dishwasher), and my husband regularly uses it for olives. And it's so easy to clean; just put in the dishwasher (although the manufacturer recommends hand washing).I had initially purchased this (and a nearly completely set of these Pure Komachi knives) to keep my husband away from my "good" knives when he was making sandwiches, etc, and because I wanted inexpensive knives that I wouldn't feel guilty about running through the dishwasher -- but it turns out that I like "his" knives so much, I use them, too! When these knives first arrived, my husband called them "kiddie knives," because of the pretty colors, but be careful, because these are very sharp -- early on, I cut myself badly enough with the purple sandwich knife so that a Band-aid was inadequate and I needed Steristrips. My advice is to treat this knife as you would any super-sharp knife, because it is just as sharp as my professional quality-knives, even if it comes in a fun color. Also, if you're considering this knife, my advice is to keep an eye on the price, which varied twofold in the month I had it saved in my cart while deciding to purchase. I bought the second one for <$4! Great knife at a great price!

Pure Komachi 2 Series Citrus Knife
Bought this knife and one other to complete the set. Read where they may discolor with different food. Never had that problem, but usually rinse off the knife after using. So far nothing sticks to it, so it is easy to clean. Very, very sharp knives. You need to pay serious attention when using them. Read where a chef didn't care for them because they were too light for a day of slicing. I like the light weight and so far they have cut through strawberries to butternut squash just fine. They come in their own sheath so I can throw them in the drawer, reach for one, and not cut a finger. Didn't want the knife holder because my counter top is already loaded. They take up much less space that my old knife set. I know which one I want by the color. Citrus is a breeze.

Great, but why is it different?
I own a few other komachi knives and this one is no different! They all are sharp and slice very cleanly. I use this one as it suggests for fruits and some vegetables. It's excellent on fruits with a natural wax or tough rind like orange because of the ridging helps keep the item you're slicing on the knife. I've had an orange slip while I was trying to cut it with a smooth blade, not fun. My only qualm is that for some reason this knife's sheath is not like the rest the sheath has a little part that allows it to stand which keeps it from fitting into the drawers with the other knives because it is a bit bulky. But otherwise its a good buy!

Komachi 2 handles not as well made as previous ones
I've had Komachi knives for a couple of years now and they are still going strong. I bought them on a whim mostly because of the colors, but ended up loving them. Friends and family are impressed with my 'toy' knives when they help out in the kitchen. Despite heavy use the blades have kept their sharpness and I still have to be careful not to cut myself when I use them. I store them on a magnetic knife bar on a side cupboard and people often ask if they are 'real' knives. My first 4 were larger knives so I decided to get the smaller knives; the citrus knife was one of them. I agree with other reviews about the handles on the knives; defiantly NOT the same quality as my older ones. Hopefully the blades will hold up, but the handles do look cheap. So far so good with the blades; wonderfully sharp and colorful!I was surprised at the design of the protective storage sheath which is not just a blade cover but lets the knives sit upright in your drawer, almost like a holder - I am thinking of sticking the "sheaths" down with double-sick tape to the bottom of my drawer. The knife just slips right in and stays in place.

Perfect with fruit
I really like this knife! I don’t cook a lot so I don’t own many knives. However, I found that I needed a better knife to cut fruits rather than use the usual big sharp kitchen knives. This one is so perfect for cutting avocados and mangoes! The ragged edged really help slice through the thick skins and peels. It is light and ergonomic, very easy to clean. One thing that scares me is the blade is a bit flexible, I haven’t experienced that with other knives.I would recommend this for the price. Great for fruit and cheese.

Great knife, but was slightly bent.
I'm a bartender, and it's difficult to find a knife that will cut limes and lemons precisely, and when I find one, it keeps just disappearing. This one is the perfect size and sharpness for the price. I gave it 3 stars only because the blade was slightly bent, so it cuts at a slight angle. I can adjust to it, and won't get too upset when this one "disappears".
