The perfect spatula. Hand wash for long life.
This is our second of this exact type of OXO “fish flipper” spatula. We still have the prior one, but the handle material has degraded over time after frequent runs through the dishwasher. We sometimes use a high-heat “sanitary mode,” so perhaps others have not had this issue, but the handle on ours has become “tacky” over time — a sign the plastic is degrading. But it’s become such an indispensable tool in our kitchen that we had to get another one, which will be hand-washed going forward. These aren’t just for fish, although I used it on the sockeye salmon last night and it was of course perfect. But this kind of thin, flexible spatula works well with anything you’re cooking in a pan that needs flipping, turning, or manipulating, whether you’re browning ground beef for chili or turning steaks. I don’t really see the point of the short, fat style for most of what we cook — this fish flipper style slides under food easily and is wide enough and “springy” enough to lift a T-bone or an omelet.Five stars for the perfect spatula. Get one and you’ll never want to be without

Multiple uses
I have been using this many, many months. I love it so much I encourage my brother to get one. I ended up giving him one alongside a gift card for Christmas. My mom said when he opened his gift he freaked because he finally got the fish spatula. Guess, you definitely know you’re old when you get all excited about a kitchen utensil. But this is truly one to get excited about. It has a great grip like all of OXO products. It’s steel so no worries about rusting. The scoop is long to gather more food up with. I use this for multiple things. It’s great for scooping up fries, tator tots, cookies off of a baking sheet. I use it to scoop up any meat I cook to plate it. I have even used it to help drain off veggies from a pot. This is a tool I use daily. Always finding new ways to use it. Soooo, worth the price.

Great Cooking Spatula
I admit it - I purchased a fish spatula based off of a recommendation from Buzzfeed Tasty. It was listed on the 16 Truly Useful Tools AND the 10 Most Useful Items to Have In the Kitchen Under $25, and of the many tools listed, I noticed this was one tool I didn't actually own. "A fish spatula for crispy fish AND transferring warm cookies without casualties." Besides, in all those silly Tasty videos, the user is using a fish spatula to saute items...for the price, I might as well give it a go. After using the spatula, I'm kinda surprised I didn't buy one earlier! The OXO Good Grips fish spatula works great for flipping over fillets of fish, burgers, pancakes, eggs...the tip of the spatula is thin enough to get under those items easily and wide enough to hold the item effectively. The blade doesn't scratch my pans, doesn't get scratched by my cast iron pans, and is long enough so that I don't need to worry about getting burned when flipping items. The handle is plastic and can get melted/soften if left in your pan, but because I don't leave my utensils in the pan, I didn't have any issues with that. If you do leave utensils in your pans, this can stand being left on the edge for a short while, but I wouldn't recommend leaving it for extended periods of time.Overall, this is one of those kitchen items that I didn't know I needed until I actually started using it. I ended up tossing my older silicone OXO spatula which was starting to peel at the blade end, and haven't looked back.

Good but expensive
It’s great functionally! However, the handle is cheap…

You need these in all the sizes
These are wonderful fish turners. I've had mine for many years and they've held up so well, I purchased some for a friend who's learning to cook. They aren't for nonstick, but most of my cookware is stainless or cast iron and these work so well. Excellent for deep frying as well. The edges are fine enough to get under cookies and eggs without destroying them. Well made.

My new favorite spatula
I know it's called a fish turner, but it is so helpful with other foods. Pancakes for instance. You can more easily lift an edge to check the how done the bottom is, meaning it works better with delicate foods.Just get one and you'll see what I mean.
