MegaHitch Lock Coupler Vault Pro with 2 5/16" ball (Red)

5 stars ! Amazing ! I use the megahitch as a deterrent to theft on the tiny house on wheels that I'm building ! The farther along I got into the construction, the more concerned I got regarding the possibility of theft and all my creative and hard work just disappearing. This lock is an absolute fortress ! The quality, for once, is comparable to the price I paid for it. Pricey, especially when compared to other lock types out there. ! But, how much more valuable the property I'm protecting ! What a peace of mind it's given. Now, I know that "where there is a will, there is a way", this in regards to stealing or people creating other ways to make someone's life miserable. Im not naive. But, trust me in this ! This lock is the real deal: easy to apply, good to look at, and sturdy as "all get out". My due diligence included looking at the comparison reviews on YouTube at how every other hitch lock is easily bypassed or destroyed. This has definitely been one purchase I've made without regret. In this situation, excellent quality is so worth the price you pay for it ! Hope that helps in your decision.

After recieving this product I tried to attach it to my trailer. The hitch would not capture the internal locking mechinism that connects to the hitch. A call to customer service along with a couple of digital pictures and the company promptly had a semi-custom solution to my problem. There was a slight up charge of $20.00 but that was at cost with no mark up to me. The modified capture device worked perfectly and I now have the added security of being able to lock up the trailer when we leave. The folks at Clearwater Industries were very helpful and told me if the modification didnt work, they would stand behind the product and make things right. Based on the results, I believe them.This unit is expensive but would require a welding tourch to defeat. As another customer wrote, watch the YouTube video and decide for yourself, this one is worth the money.

I absolutely love this lock and feel certain my trailer. That is AFTER I modified it to actually be secure. I have a 2-5/16" Bull Dog coupler. The lock shrouds everything on the top, bottom, and sides as promised. Being made of 3/16" or 1/4" plate steel, it is every bit as tough as promised.However....The bolt is easily accessible from the bottom and sides. 30sec with a long blade on a cordless reciprocating saw and POOF, no more trailer. I extended the length of the sides and bottom with 3"x4"x1/4" angle iron to eliminate access to the bolt. Extended to top with 1/4" plate steel to eliminate access to the coupler retainer sleeve. NOW it is a secure trailer lock.

I purchased an older version of this lock (2014) and I've been happy with it. Recently the lock stopped engaging (just popped out when I pressed it in) so I emailed MegaHitch. They offered to replace the locking mechanism free of charge. After 2 years I can't complain about that.As a temporary solution I purchased a $25 hitch lock from Home Depot and It's garbage compared to the MegaHitch.

Great quality, very durable, and super heavy duty. Adjustable for different type of trailer tongues, however, I couldn't adjusted mine to lock in place like shown on this photo. After many attempts it locks, but it is lose. It hangs down, giving impression like it's about to come off. Another thing, having this device is useless if you have a tongue that is height adjustable like on my trailer. Someone can unbolt it with this device on it, bolt in their tongue on it and still drive away with your trailer. I thought this vault was large enough to cover the entire trailer tongue. I'm using it, but my trailer isn't 100% theft proof.

I have had a lot of people stop and ask how I lock my trailer tongue and when they see the "Vault" they are very pleased. I specifically bought for my 14' cargo trailer so instead of using the piece that fits in the tongue I modified a 2 5/8 ball and use that instead of the the piece that comes with the the vault. Rock solid, I would love to see someone determined to beat on this and try to remove.

This is a simple lock that gives me peace of mind. I've used others and have had a trailer stolen. I have 2 of these now for both of my trailers. I'm sure if they really want it they are going to take it but this will make it a lot tougher on them and hopefully they will just move on. Great design

It may work on most hitches but my hitch was too big. It looked like it was falling off after I put it on. Decided to return and get a wheel bolt locks and wheel locks instead.
