Story Never Ends
In all honesty, I like this series. There are a few annoyances like every man young and old is in love with Sage (heroine) when they meet her that induces eye rolls. However, as the series progressed those moments were less and the story got even better.I am, however, turned off by a few things the author has done. The first of which was at the end of one of the books (the 3rd I believe) in the series she has an excerpt saying she writes the next book in the series dependent on the reviews she gets. Meaning she will leave us hanging for a conclusion if we don't give her enough reviews and write a book in another series that got more. Feels great since this author tends to finishes books on cliffhangers. I found this odd and have never seen an author do this before. Any author can do what they want with their stories and write however they choose, but I can't say it gives me incentive to be a loyal fan if you're trying to extort reviews from me. I'm patient waiting for books (I've waited how long for GRRM?) yet not a fan of the fact I have to do something for you to finish your story which I buy btw.The second thing she did was create a short story in between the 4th and 5th book that she said we MUST read to understand the next book. It was pricey for the amount of pages but again, I value author's work and thought it must be a great 42 pages. Yet again, I found it odd that she is said we HAVE TO read it to understand this latest book. You didn't and don't bother buying it. *I believe the line saying you HAVE TO read the book was taken down from the description recently*Finally, this author decided to prolong this series with an additional book which surprised me because I thought I had read this would be the conclusion. I really did not need 300+ pages of seeing how bad the Warlord is yet again with little to no actual plot movement. This is filler through and through. This coupled with her other actions just makes me feel she is prolonging the story just to have another additional book to buy. I'm not against author's making money and I even may buy the last book (hopefully) when it comes out in 2020 to see how this story ends. The actual story is decent and I enjoyed reading it. I do feel a little icky supporting an author who, in my opinion, has a tendency to string her readers along. In the end, I probably won't support this author again.

Setting up for the finale
This book was told from multiple points of view. Just to name a few of them include Sage, Jasmine, Sam, the Warlord, a new character and Mira. As such no one person or persons was the focus of the book as a lot of them are also in different places. This book features a lot of sweet moments between pairs like Sage/Tehl and Sam and Jasmine. It also features yet more examples of how awful the warlord is including enslavement and poor treatment of said slaves and war crimes against innocents. There is also a lot of time spent wondering how exactly the warlord could possibly be beaten while providing a hint at those answers. I liked the new character introduced. While we get a lot of of little set pieces, it is not immediately obvious to me how any of them except the one of the new character advances the overall plot of the series forward. The plot of the book seems to be, let's show how wonderful the good guys are, how bad the warlord is, and motivate everyone not the warlord to rise up against him. Hopefully in the next book we can see how all the people touched upon in this book can come together to accomplish the task of taking the warlord down.Warning, this book yet again ends with beloved characters upset and or in peril in a cliffhanger ending. It will be a long wait for 2020

Frost Takes Us on Another Emotional Ride
I'm not usually a fan of multiple POVs, but the complex world Frost created almost demands it. And, she did a phenomenal job of it. Tehl, Sage, Sam, Jasmine, and the others have grown so much since the first book, and in Spy's Mask, even more unique characters are introduced. I have a feeling Dor will be a major player in the remaining books in the series. Can't wait to find out how!

Love and Loss, Tensions Ramp Up to a Fever Pitch!
Spy's Mask is the 5th book in Frost Kays Aermian Feuds. I would consider this Sam and Jasmines story mostly with continuation of the escalation of the pending war with the Scythian. There is also a strong story line with Dorcas and we meet a new very special friend of hers who I have high hopes will make a difference in the war. Frost does an amazing job of bringing her characters to life, drawing the reader in deeper with every turn of the page! I am anxious to know how the story ends but sad to know the story ends with one more book!

Lots of violence as war sets in
If you don't hate the Warlord by this book you sure will by the end of it. I find it hard to enjoy these books as they really make me angry at Sage's enemies. This author writes in such a way that you really feel for her characters. Powerful writing sometimes makes you feel emotions that you don't want to feel.Excellent writing even if it does make you feel like killing the Warlord.

Worth the wait
I felt like it was forever between King's Shield and Sky's Mall, but boy was it worth the wait! Wow! I'm still in shock from that finish! There is so much to this book, and watching these characters continue to grow and experience wonderful and heartbreaking things was one of the best parts. Relationships continue to grow and develop. Pretty sure I want my own Tehl. We met some new characters that I can't wait to know more of. Spring of 2020 is way too far away to wait for the finale of this book, although I almost don't want it to end at the same time. Highly recommend!!!

Impatiently waiting for more
"Nightmares aren’t truth. They are all of our fears and insecurities twisted into something no one should suffer."Spy's Mask transports you to another time to walk alongside Sage, Jasmine and Dor while they struggle with their internal demons, stand for those who are unable, and war against evil. You’ll laugh with them, cry with them and become so vested in their lives, that when you turn the last page, you’ll be wanting more and wondering where the time went.

Wow.
This book was like the calm before the Storm. We all know the war is coming, and we’re just holding our breathes in those moments leading up to it. And then it all comes crashing down in the end and suddenly is over. I can’t wait to read the last book and find out how the series ends.
