I can't say too much about this XLR cable. The overall quality is great and the fact that it's shielded helps keep interference noise, and the hum I was hearing before to a minimum as well. The heavy gauge wires are well protected in their thick rubber housing. The gold plating on the 3.5 mm plug says a lot about this XLR cable. The fact that the XLR end locks into place is also a big plus. No more worrying about the microphones coming unplugged while recording. The XLR plug that came with my microphone also locked into place, but it took quite a bit of force to separate the plug from the microphone. The XLR plug on this cable connects firmly with the microphone while being easy to remove when the recording session is over.This is just a personal preference, but I also like the fact that even the XLR plug is black. Not that that makes any difference, but let me add that if a repair had to be done, the plugs on each end of this cable come apart easily, and after one glance at the soldering inside the housings, I can say that Cable Matters didn't skimp on anything with this cable.Highly recommended.

Straight to the point: This WILL NOT connect an XLR microphone (that doesn't require power) to an Android phone. I glanced reviews and read some things that seemed to indicate it would and it does not. This is not the fault of the seller, the cable appears to be a solid build. The connection just does not work with an Android device. If you want to use an XLR mic that doesn't need power you'll need a XLR Female to 3.5mmm Mono Male Cable and TRS (Female) Microphone Adapter Cable to TRRS (Male). The male end should have three black lines on it.

I needed a cable adaptor from a soundboard output to the input of a wireless transmitter. It clicked in perfectly and worked without wobble. The build of the cable is sturdy and I like the thickness of the wire. The xlr female to TRS male fits securely. It seems well built. I ordered the 3 foot cable and it suits my needs.

It does what it's supposed to do, but...I feel like they should've warned the buyer that this kind of converter will require additional power to make the microphone loud enough to be heard. Allot of the volume is lost in the conversion to 3.5 mm.

This is an extremely well made, heavy-duty cable. I tried others on my Sony recorder that didn’t work. This one did and it works great. I use it for connecting a stereo Audio Technica microphone to the Sony recorder.
