The Ladies' Book of Etiquette and Manual of Politeness Paperback – October 31, 2014

Excellent and very informative reading.

My kid actually read it?!!!

This book is, in a word, delightful. It wasn’t written for those living in the 21st century, but I cannot help but feel that so many of the points of etiquette, particularly with regards to behavior in public and how to be a good hostess or guest, to be not only appropriate but in need of revival. In our society’s overwhelmingly desire for personal happiness is a sad want of comfort or happiness for others. While I cannot advocate for the return of corsets, I certainly can advocate for a return to decency and manners, which, sadly, seem to have largely passed away.

Amazingly, I did not have a desire to throw this book across the room. While much of it is no longer of use as we do not have calling hours and no longer need to dress for them, it does offer some interesting advise on being a lady.Never leave your rooms without being completely put together. Do not put bon bons into your pockets or purse. (This was an issue for gentlemen as well. Seems it was a widespread concern!)

You have some of the best products available. Greatest of my thanks to you.

Please buy this book, if you are interested in getting a glimpse on 19th century well bred society😁. I am so enjoying it, easy to read and it will even help you be a good guest and host. I included one of my favorite passages so far, i love the language

This review is not of the book, but this corrupted reprint. This printing, and the corresponding gentlemen's version are NOT the same as the original, as content has been omitted. My boyfriend and I got these books to learn some more traditional teachings on Christian conduct, and the Christian parts were largely omitted including an entire chapter on "Conduct in Church." The 5 star rating is for the original, but this copy is a major disappointment.

I got the book… the cover looks like a bad print not as advertised.
