Lovely Introduction to Sutton Hoo
This little book has excellent pictures of many of the gold-work and garnet inlay objects found in the Sutton Hoo ship burial site along with images of recreations of several of the artifacts including the iconic Anglo-Saxon helmet, sword and sword belt with its gold fittings and dragon-like gold buckle (shown on the cover). There is a nice timeline and the text is well-written and informative. This book is an excellent introduction which leaves a reader wanting to learn more.

Unexpected, Beautiful, Heroic and Otherworldly -- And From a Past When the World Communicated More Than We Think
The photography catches one's eye; the explanations and history inform and delight. This book is a perfect introduction for readers who do not necessarily want a long tome, and a piquant taste for those who long to hunger for an archeological, artistic, and historical feast that can be found elsewhere.

Good overview and great pictures!
I wanted a reference of exactly was found in this dig and not others mixed in. This was it. There is enough information in it for me too. It isn't a deep archeological tract, but what I needed to know about possible dating.

Excellent museum brochure. Amazon description could use revising
This is an excellent brochure as has been pointed out by other reviewers. The images of many of the items depicted are of higher definition than those of the same items in other, more informative, books on Sutton Hoo and that makes it worthwhile acquiring, imo.The one aspect that is annoying is that in the book description the line "Discover the real story behind The Dig, streaming now on Netflix, starring Carey Mulligan and Ralph Fiennes". Hmmm....the film takes a lot of liberties with the the characters it portrays, some who art blatantly fictitious or did not exist at all, so to describe it as the real (i.e. true) story is false (see Rob Salkowitz review, Forbes ) The fact that the 'report incorrect product information' link is locked is a little worrying. Still, as Mark Twain said: Never let the truth get in the way of a good story....

Treasures from Sutton Hoo
Although only a slim volume, this book offers some amazing full colour photographs of the ( as titled ) treasures of Sutton Hoo, a Viking long ship burial, unearthed in the Suffolk countryside. The quality, design, and ornamentation of the items denote it must surely have belonged to someone of VERY high status.Although there is not very much by way of back story to the archeological dig, there are a couple of artists impressions, and a little bit of the history, the colour photographs of the actual items however, are just out of this world and truly awe inspiring....

England's Tutankhamen
A tastefully illustrated book about the most spectacular treasure ever dug up in England. Like Tutankhamen's treasure, it was associated with a royal burial; probably that of King Raedwald of East Anglia. Some of the most valuable items came from as far away as Constantinople. They include silver spoons and the King's wonderful parade helmet. There is an interesting mix of pagan and Christian items; was the King hedging his bets in the hereafter? The story of the treasure's discovery is as fascinating at the treasure itself.

Minimal content
This very slim booklet (originally from the British Museum bookshop) contains beautiful photographs but very little in the way of the story of their discovery or origins . There is more ample and recent information elsewhere.

Worth having for the photographs
This is “just” a pamphlet to a museum exhibition but the price reflects that and it’s still worth having for the photographs as an accompaniment to other books on the subject.
