What type batteries does it use?

Use's a 9 volt battery. You will have to unscrew 2 screws on back and replace battery the same way as you pull out of housing area.

Can see clearly enough, can it test capacitors?

Yes. It can test caps. No issue. My problem is it lasted less than a year and started throwing crazy numbers. I wouldn’t buy it again.

Does this read thermal temperatures

It comes with a K10 temp sensor and reads temps accurately. Don’t know the entire range but covers everything we need for HVAC. Best meter I ever had

Is it rated cat i, ii, or iii…?
