Could Save Upholstery With Training
I bought this in order to save my upholstery when my daughter came home for Xmas with her cat. He did use it sometimes, but it took a lot of picking up and moving the cat from the sofa to the scratchbox - he rarely chose the box for his first target. However he did use it and seemed to enjoy the substitute. With more training I'm sure he would use it regularly and leave the sofa alone. The con to the thing is that it is not tall/long enough for him to stretch himself while scratching, I don't know if that is important to a cat. Another thing is that it is lightweight plastic and he flipped it over a few times in order to get at the red toy underneath. Not a problem for me to flip it back, but the scratching function is not available when it is flipped. I would cut off the toy and stabilize the box somehow if the cat were to stay with me for longer.

sturdiness yes small yes
I have a number of cats and they all love their scratchers. It isn't long before they have destroyed them. I liked this was plastic bases and stronger. If you have a small cat or young cats- kittens this is great. It is too small for large or full grown cats. it moves around. If they make a bigger one I will buy another one. Jut watch the size in relationship to your cat , I did not.

A little small, but our cat adores it.
Excellent cat scratcher! I our 15 lb behemoth loves it, he even bats at the little toy on the underside of it. We went for this toy with the plastic base because we figured it would hold up better against our cat's assaults than a scratcher with a cardboard base (he is an infamous ripper of paper and enthusiastic clawer). So far it has held up very well.Minus one star because of the size. It's surprisingly small (Only a little over a foot long and probably 4.5 inches wide). However, even with its small size its sturdy enough for our cat to climb on and lay down on top of.

If people would just look at the last picture...
Ok, I was wondering what all the negative comments were about, and I found there are a ton of people who don't have a good concept of size. It is a tad bit smaller than I expected, but that's not the item's fault... My two boys love the hidden toy in the base of this scratcher.THE HOLES IN THE BASE are not for kittens or cats to enter, but for them to REACH IN and swipe at it.Also if you don't like the cardboard scratching post leftovers then this is not for you, but if you don't like having to vacuum up the leftover cardboard then you will want a fabric version if you can find one.

Way too small
My cat is twice the size of this scratching post. I usually get the Kong Incline and thought I would try this since it looks like it will last. Unfortunately, way too small. I ended up giving it to my daughter who just adopted a kitten.

messy but....
It took awhile for my cats too figure out what this was suppose to be but, once they did-it was love! It does make a total mess so if you're a neat-nick, I would stick with a reg. scratching post. But my cats seem to have a competion going on to see who can scratch off more paper in one sitting & really enjoy it. Plus-when one side 'wears out', you can just flip it over & get double use out of it.

I don't know what's wrong
I had high hopes for this product. Unfortunately my cat just won't go near it. He was much more entertained with the cardboard box it came in.Not even the red bouncy ball underneath attracts his attention. I've tried everything, from pushing him to look at it, to ridiculously showing him how to do it myself. Embarrasing, really. But no gain.I tried putting some catnip I had around and there was absolutely no effect. Although to be fair, it wasn't a particulary effective catnip anyway. Some cat toys bring some good catnip included to help induce play. It would be nice if this one did.As I type this, this scratch box is still lying around on the floor, literally untouched.I'm really sorry to put only two stars, as the idea makes sense and I tought it would work. But in practice, it just didn't. At least not in my case. Better luck to you.

Good cat toy, base could be a little stronger plastic.
Betsy loves this, Tezu not so much. Two things - (1) the plastic part is very thin, altho it does support the cat when they are standing on it and clawing and )2) the cardboard scratchy part gets all over the living room from scratching, but I guess this should have been expected. They do find the ball hanging inside the toy intriguing!

Gran producto a súper precio!
No entiendo porque la gente comenta que es muy pequeño, para mi tiene el tamaño perfecto y mi gato lo amooooo desde el principio. Tiene un juguete con un resorte por debajo y no ha dejado de jugar. Lo recomiendo ampliamente!
