Purchased the Citrus option. The scent of this bar is very pleasing - not floral, not musky, not woodsy - just clean. Lathers nicely. Cleanses effectively. Some bar shampoos have left my hair with an abundance of split ends. Not the case with this shampoo. The large bar is a double-edged sword: May be difficult to handle for folks with smaller hands - at least until the bar washes down some. However, this means less end-of-bar "splinters" as with smaller bars - which means overall more usage with less inconvenience. For the initial few uses, to wear down the sharp edges, lather the bar with two hands, the way a pitcher might handle a baseball. After a few uses like this, the bar becomes much more manageable. This product claims to be USA made, which helps to assure the quality of ingredients and production. Would be nice if the cost was a bit lower, but all told, this is an excellent product. UPDATE: My first bar lasted over 4 months. I do have short hair, though, so YMMV. I am now on to the "mint" scent. This fragrance is much lighter. Pleasant, but disappears. Having two options gives buyers good alternatives between types - citrus, if you want a bit more scent, mint if you just want clean with minimal fragrance.

This was the first shampoo bar I've tried, so I don't the experience to give any comparisons to other shampoo bars, but here's my thoughts. It does lather quite well and the scents are really nice and hardly linger. The cube shape makes hard to hold at first. I was washing pretty frequently, between 1-3 days usually and it lasted a suprisingly long time. The end result seemed to depend how oily my hair was before washing. When I waited around 3 days, if i only did one wash then my hair would sometimes still look oily after washing. Washing and rinsing twice would alleviate this. When I comb through my hair, there is a residue left behind on the comb. Keep in mind this is after months of using it, I've gone through one bar and am on my second purchase. However, the residue hasn't really had much of an effect on my hair itself, just my comb. Its similar to the residue that I had when I tried "no poo". If I don't clean my comb between brushes then I just end up brushing all that gunk back into my hair and creating tangles in the process. I continue to use it for now because I doesn't irritate my scalp irritation compared to conventional shampoos, and because it does atleast get reduce oilyness as a shampoo should. My hair feels "mostly clean". It doesn't clean perfectly, but perhaps thats the point of a sulfate-free shampoo. I'm not buying shampoo bars for ethical reasons, but if I was then I'd wish it didn't have palm oil as an ingredient given the disasterous effects the palm oil industry has on both human life and the environment.

This shampoo bar is just what I needed for my hair. Easy to use and it suds up well. This bar also last for about a two months if you are washing your hair once a week. You should follow-up with a conditioner or some type oof moisturizer because your can become dry. Enjoy washing!

Minus one star because I dislike the square shape and it doesn't leave a lasting scent. I prefer round soap bars for ease of lathering on your hair & body. The scent is nice and all natural which means it does it jobs of cleaning your hair with good lather. I'm still transitioning to more natural products so take this review as you will. Eventually I'll learn to appreciate that natural products will not have a lasting fragrance and will only clean and not soften hair as would products with chemical products. I'd still recommend this bar to try out. Each person has different expectations. I just felt that it cleans my hair and that's all.

For a little hair background, I had been using soap nuts for shampoo for several months, then used a soap nut liquid shampoo from natura oils or whatever, and my hair was pretty healthy and build up free from those; Then i ran out and didn't want to buy anything so expensive, so i've been using cheap store bought conditioner for a few weeks, so I would assume I have build up again from all the silicone. The first time I used this bar I washed it like 3 times because I know you normally have to do that after switching from store bought crap to natural... I brushed my hair out afterwards and it was kind of that yucky bar soap feeling you would have expected, but it actually dried pretty nice and the only down side was that my brush bristles got coated with a waxy residue that i assume is the soap in the ingredient... but this second time I washed my hair with it, threw my hair up in a towel and let it air dry without combing till later and it's beautiful! it didn't have that bar soapy residue feeling anymore. I'm impressed! The only thing I'm worried about is that it may not last long having to lather it into my hair, because it's such a tiny bar, so i have an alarm set on my phone to tell me when it's been two months. if I can get two months out of it with myself and my husband using it regularly, 2-3 times a week, which is all you should wash your hair if you aren't using fake crap, then I can justify the price. So far so good though, it's nice and clean and not residue feeling at all.

This shampoo bar is like washing your hair with Irish Spring bar soap. It is harsh and leaves a residue that is hard to remove. Since I can’t use it on my hair, I use at a shave bar. It does a nice job for that. I really wanted to like this bar. I make my own Amala, Reetha, Shikakai shampoo that works wonders on my hair, but is a real pain in the rear to make. I was hoping to find something I could just grab and go. This shampoo bar not only missed the mark of my homemade shampoo, it missed the mark of regular store bought crap shampoo. VO5 dries my hair out less (for reference) and doesn’t leave a residue I cannot get out of my hair. I had to wash my hair with clarifying shampoo 4 times before I got the shampoo bar residue fully out of my hair.

So, not only is this bar shampoo a serious money saver, but it made my hair feel so shiny and soft! I have used bar shampoos in the past and found that they are either difficult to lather or leave my hair feeling a little stiff. This one lathered so easily and felt very nourishing. Love love love that all the ingredients are clean and natural as well. Makes such a big deal for the health of your hair! I also often shower at the gym/work and love how easy this is to travel with versus bringing a huge bottle. Oh! And it smells so so good! Highly recommend!!!

I was really looking forward to this shampoo:( Read all the reviews/info and it sounded great. Lathers up better than expected and the scent is very nice however does not get my hair feeling clean at all. After washing my hair several times since my purchase, my hair is always left grimey and unmanageable. My hair has a slight wave when clean and this product weighs my hair down completely, impossible to style. After rinsing thoroughly , have buildup on hair and it’s also visible on my brush. Would like to return, not sure about return policy. I’ll update review, Hopefully customer service will help make it right.
