I loved this book since I received it. Beautiful hard cover, high quality images and lots of words and phrases. Just one thing to highlight for new buyers, you will find many words or phrases using a combination of kana and kanji, do not expect the book to be wholly written in kana. But there's the fun, you will learn the real life japanese, not the theoretical hiragana only.

Got this book for my girlfriend who is learning Japanese and this book is amazing and has alot of information and is not as big and heavy as we thought. The pages are nice the images are high quality and its very much worth the Price.

This book is really good!! I like the outline, images and examples. AND it's best suited for upper beginner or lower intermediate (around N5 and N4).I dont recommend to less than upper beginner because there are occasional mistakes in the writing/pronunciation they wont be able to spot (for example, on page 16 they swapped the eat and drink kanji). These should be no problem for upper beginner on. Plus, a beginner wouldnt be able to form sentences for full use of the material.I dont recommend to more advanced than lower intermediate because you will know must of the vocabulary already. This is what happened to me, so not that useful.

This is a great book for people who want to learn Japanese from scratch. I love how it has phrases for everyday use! It is great for teaching yourself how to speak Japanese with no help. The audio recordings are really useful, too.

This is a nice quality book with good photos. I like how the pages of vocabulary are organized by topic.

This book is really well thought through, I can't recommend it enough.It teaches you useful Japanese words that also reveal Japanese culture - it's a totally different type of resource compared to a dictionary where you don't really have much else to do than just look up words.I highly recommend downloading the audio files as instructed on page 96 - this helps you review the content MUCH better. Just open the audio file and let it roll while you study page, and call out the words out loud with the track. This helps you very quickly review tons of vocabulary and avoid pronunciation mistakes that you could easily develop if you only read the "romaji" versions of the words.
