Sade Hits all the RIght Notes
This concert filmed in Southern California in the early 2000’s was behind the band’s 5th album — “Lovers Rock.” Sade and her band of talented musicians lead the viewer on a journey through their song catalog of such hits as ‘Sweetest Taboo,” “Smooth Operator” and “No Ordinary Love.” The singer is as cool as always — and commands the stage from beginning to end. I actually saw this show in person at the Hollywood Bowl in 2001. I enjoyed seeing it again.

MESMERIZING
What can I say about Sade that you haven't already heard? Nothing. You know her band is as tight as they come; you know her lyrics are thought provoking and insightful; you know her beauty is etheral and angelic; you know her concerts are treasures to be savored over and over. What you may not know is that "Lovers Live" is a must-buy DVD. Don't feel that because you own the DVD of her earlier tour that this DVD is superflous. It's not. There are many songs on this collection that were not included in the first. Also, of the songs that are repeated on "Lovers Live", the arrangements are changed enough to make this listen a new experience. Even "Red Eye" received a significant updating. The best thing about watching a Sade concert is her command of the audience. Sade is a true beauty, but she doesn't flaunt her assets like so many other female singers. There are no bootylicious aspirations, thong-exposing outfits, acrobatic dance moves, or salacious lyrics. Simply a beautiful, talented woman doing what she does best: mesmerizing an audience for two hours!

BETTER THE FIRST TIME
I recently ordered this DVD since I'm such a huge fan. I already own her earlier concert DVD and have to admit that I like the earlier one better. If you like to hear performers sound exactly the way they do on their CD releases, you'll love this. It seems she and her excellent band took more chances musically with their earlier DVD release. With the exception of the crowd noise, you could have taken the tracks on this DVD almost directly from the CD's. In seeing musicians perform a live concert, it is always exciting to see a band take chances with their own familiar work and add variations. Technically, this DVD is superior in production to the earlier releases but is lacking the emotional rawness of "SADE LIVE". In both cases, she exudes pure sensuality like no other performer out today (Britney doesn't even come close!!) Her band is top notch and shines in any performance. If you get the chance to see her live, she is definitely worth seeing. Please, SADE, don't make us wait another 9 years!!!

Better Vocal mixing than the Sade Live DVD
Many reveiwers have preferred the Audio quality of the Sade Live DVD over the Lovers Live DVD. As a big fan of Sade I recently (2009) purchase both DVD's and have listen to each several times. The vocal performances in each DVD are wonderful and often far more expressive than the original CDs.My issue with Sade Live is the mix between the Vocals and Band. In many passages, the band is way "out front" with Sade's vocal almost lost behind the band. This is also true when a male vocal was the primary performer for one of the songs. The Lovers Live DVD keeps Sade up front, not overwhelmed by the band. The balance of Vocal to Band in Lovers Live is much more precise as in the studio productions.Overall, if Sade Live could have had the post production mixing quality of Lovers Live, I would prefer Sade Live for being more unique from the original CD versions of the songs.

Sade at the top of her game
I would have loved to see this show live! While some would probably dismiss Sade as elevator-fluff, there's no doubt that there is a depth to her performances that is endearing. When she first came to the forefront with 1985's "Smooth Operator", it was fairly easy to dismiss as a one-shot tune for the '80's (although I like the song, the video was silly). Sade, however, expanded from there and built up her musical identity. Not certain if she's still locked in with "easy-listening" or if she's blazed her own trails by now, but there's no doubt there's no one else like her. This concert DVD showcases in a live performance what is wonderfully hinted at in many of her recordings, although perhaps she dips a toe into the "torch-singer" idea a bit more often than needed. Fine concert versions of many of Sade's more popular tunes and a worthwhile collection for fans!

One of the best I have ever owned
I enjoyed every song. Found myself listening to it every day without getting tired of it . I hum the songs to myself all the time. Couldn’t be happier.

Bueno, bonito y barato
La caja y la presentación, demasiado sencillos, el disco tiene un buen menú y extras, el sonido esta en estéreo y en 5.1, y buena producción de audio, la imagen para el año que es, es muy buena. En general, es buen dvd para el precio.
