Cliffhanger
Was a good book. Just wished I had known about the cliffhanger or else I wouldn’t have read it. personally I don’t like books with cliffhangers.

Long and very boring...
Dislikes:The story was really long and boring and it still ended in a cliffhanger. The characters were very unlikable and both were sluts. I will definitely not be reading book 2.

Entertaining
“The man somehow always knew my desires before I even thought of them.”The Hate Vow is a book that splits my readers soul. As much as I enjoyed reading it, I struggled with the overal setup. Certain things, behaviours, actions made it hard for me to totally buy the story. Also, the fact that this book is pretty long and it sometimes felt like the story was dragged (due to IMO unnecessary ‘fillers’), prevented me from really falling for it. In addition to that, I sometimes felt exhausted reading it, the constant back and forth banter, the constant push and pull and the constant fight with the family left me somehow a little emotionally drained.”I shouldn’t have kissed Eric de Vries, because it wsa like being caught in a lightning storm.”However, what I loved about the book is the great sexual tension between Eric and Jane. I enjoyed following their relationship development specially with those glimpses of their past. I really liked the way their feelings shifted as they navigated through this special situation. Feelings both tried hard to hide because they both felt heart broken by the other in the past. And this anticipation that therefore was build between them was totally killing it.”It was a kiss that seared straight to my soul, branding me the way that only Eric de Vries could ever do.”The Hate Vow is an entertaining book in an interesting and unique setup that makes you laugh more than once, leaving you with a cliff-hanger. I’m really curious what the future will have in store for Jane and Eric.

boring
The blurb was very misleading and the story just went on and on and on and on... And after 424 pages of drivel, repetition and some nasty side characters it is still a CLIFF HANGER. I won't be reading book two or any other books by Nicole French cause of you can't tell me the whole story in that many pages, I don't need your attempt at writing books.

Hot, Steamy, Sexy, Poetic, and more!
Whoa! What just happened? This book is everything I didn't expect it to be. It was a whole lot more really. If you read the Spitfire Series then you've already had a glimpse of Eric and Jane. But to get their story is just awesome. These two are so much alike and yet so different. How much will they both change once they make an arrangement that will change their life. Better yet will they go through with it. Who knew how explosive those two could still be and will she ever let go of past misgivings. What is he willing to sacrifice for her? Oh and all the secrets and the turn of events this takes you on. The ending, I'm like whoa, wait, what... I love these two. And so many of others mentioned in this book too. Amazing. I am looking forward to more. Sexy, hot, steamy.. So hot!!!

Epic #1!
I loved this book. It is the first book I've read by this author. It will clearly not be the last. I knew that this book was going to be a series so expected the cliffhanger. I do not care for them so I usually end up buying the paperbacks as they are published so I can end up binge reading them. For me this made this series even more special. I absolutely loved our guy. I must admit I needed time for our gal to grow on me. Her anger at times was an issue. What I loved were the wonderful cast of secondary characters. I LOVED the grandmother and especially loved her reaction to our gal. She was who she was and was not going to give an inch. That said how the relationship between grandmother and our gal progressed was magical. The rest of this quirky family was presented in such a way where I felt as if I could have been part of the bunch. I loved the hints of mystery introduced. It was just enough to provide interest to be continued in the next edition. I loved the story, the writing, and also that this author took her time to develop these characters until they were fully realized. This is really a magical book folks. It is one you should not miss. Great job Nicole and thank you so very much for making it available in paperback. denise bailey

This is not your typical "fake marriage" story......
Nicole is trying to kill me. These books of hers never fail to pull my emotions in like I am not some one just reading their story.... but like I am a friend of theirs watching the love unfold before me. And then when you see things happening you really just want to warn them.... or jump in to slap a person or 2. This book had me all over the place. The fact that I already knew of Jane and Eric from reading the Spitfire trilogy just made me have more of a connection to them from the beginning.... it didn't take time for me to get attached to them. The back and forth that they have always had means that you know it isn't going to end with the "I love you". I think these 2 could literally say that a million times before you would even think that "maybe" this could be the HEA point. This book had a great suspenseful underlying story that has my brain all over the place asking too many questions! Now I will just keep on asking these questions for the next 3 months while I wait for the next book!!! Worth it! Go get it! Totally 5 star worthy...

Great writing awful content
The Heroine Jane is so irritating, so crass that’s its impossible to route for her. She is so keen to play the role of the liberated woman that she is a caricature, whilst at the same time she is pining for what her friend has. Sexual freedom is great because you can choose but also because you can be discerning. Her complete meltdown because of some red panties whilst she herself slept with someone less that 1 week after they broke up was ridiculous. For her to have a meltdown 5 years later about the same thing? Just plain immature. You either love and trust someone or you don’t. She basically wanted Eric to guess what’s she was thinking and was upset because he was as composed. Clearly completely lacking in communication skills. I’m all for being yourself whatever the circumstances but her tirade about inbred families was just wrong. You can get your point across without being rude. In the words of Mrs Obama go high. Same thing her reaction to the paint was over the top. Very high school. I would have been more impressed if she got changed and got right back out there. Don’t let them see you sweat. The twist with her origins was left field but by then I was so bored with the rich people bashing, the poor me attitude, the I was sleeping around like him but I’m upset because he had a last hooray like me 5 years ago that I couldn’t care less about the intrigue.

Great character chemistry
When I finished this book, which ended on a huge cliffhanger, I was left with a beguiling question: Did I enjoy it? It felt like it took me ages to read it, and if I’m honest it left me with a bit of a hangover.First, there were a few niggling things that made it feel like it dragged. It was very repetitive. The first half was a lot of the same stuff repeated, first from Jane then again from Eric’s point of view. Then there was the author’s fondness for flashbacks. They really broke the flow and slowed the pace. Plus they continued throughout, including really short flashbacks that did nothing to move the plot forward. There’s even flashbacks for events only 24 hours before. I found it a very dull way to tell a story, rather than show it in real time.Anyway, I trudged on and the main reason behind that was the main characters. Their chemistry was sizzling, and their relationship an angst ridden rollercoaster of heated arguments mixed with burning up the bed sheets, and a bit of kink thrown in for good measure.Eric and Jane are like chalk and cheese. He’s preppy, rich, and privileged, while she’s half Korean, makes unique fashion choices, and is struggling to pay her student loans. Jane has a caustic sense of humour, and I think some readers may call her a pill. She’s no nonsense and ballsy, yet hides a soft centre. I couldn’t help but like her. Eric on the other hand was chill and almost blasé. They clash constantly, and at times deliberately misunderstand one another. There were moments when I wanted to hit them both over the head, immediately followed by cooing and gushing when they got all loved up and mushy. There were things about Eric I didn’t understand. Why did he stick two fingers up at his entire family, then suddenly feel he owes it to them to save their inheritance? Then there’s the strange subplot involving some secret society he’s a part of which leads us into the cliffhanger ending. I hope we get answers in the second book, but I’m so conflicted I’m not jumping into it straight away.Anyway, back to the question: Did I enjoy this book? Yes, despite the slow start and storytelling niggles. Eric and Jane themselves were enough to keep me interested. They did intrigue me and I want to know how it ends for them. This is a story that could have been cut to improve the pace, but the sizzling heat and tension masks those niggles to keep the reader engaged.

Started slow, got better and ended horribly
The book started out slowly but I forced myself to read on and then I found myself really enjoying it. Jane and Eric were both infuriating characters but by the end of part two, I was rooting for them. The plot twist ruined it for me. I felt it building throughout the book and hated it from the beginning and for me personally, I did not appreciate the dimension it added to the book. It felt like the author was trying too hard to make this book different that they decided to come up with this ridiculous twist and ruin the story.

I'M RENAMING IT TO..... THE HATE WOW!!!
So many feels. The Janus stuff was a bit random but then that went to the back of my mind as I was first laughing at the bathroom waxing scene. Then it made me cry with the scenes at the white party, those rich types are so nasty. Then OMG all the bombshells towards the end..... The wedding, did they, didn't they? The Janus thing, Janes Mums confession. I also loved the fact Skylar and Brandon were in it as I have previously read their story. All in all I laughed, I cried, I got hot under the collar (though I did change the colour of Erics hair as blondes aren't for me) and just loved it.I am def going to read books 2 and 3 but am waiting until I re-join KU as I £5.99 and £6.99 is a bit too pricey for me.

I loved it!
This is the first book I have read by this author and I really, really enjoyed it. Eric and Jane are great characters. This is a superior enemies to lovers story and it's also a second chance romance. There is superb, witty dialogue between these two characters. It's acerbic, it's funny, it's cruel and heart-warming. There is also a mystery bubbling along underneath the main story. This was a delightfully frustrating novel where these two main characters just couldn't see how perfectly imperfect they were for each other. This book ends on a cliffhanger for book 2.
