Game changer
What is not to like? Cuts through steel and you can touch it right after you’re finished. Absolute game changer.

Evolution saved the day!
My new saw arrived just in time for the project at hand. This saw was simply amazing. It went through the steel plate I was using like a hot knife through butter. I was amazed at it's performance. Great piece of equipment for metal working.

The edges are very clean and sharp and use your PPE.
So far I've only used it on 16 gauge steel sheet metal and 1/4" strap and it cuts well. It's like cutting wood with a skill saw only a little slower. I've been using the blade for thin metal and it works well. When using the saw you have to think of it like you would when cutting wood, the thinner the metal the more teeth you need on the blade. PPE is a must. Hearing, eye and hands! As with any skill saw use a guide when you can it makes cutting a straight line a lot easier.

Awesome saw has some serious cutting power
This thing is a beast!! It is laughable looking at this saw side by side a normal sized skill saw. I've got some use on it now and it cuts 16ga sheet metal cleanly and effortlessly. I primarily bought it for cutting and stripping copper aluminum coils for recycling and let me tell you it laughs at cutting through them. I have no doubts that this thing will cut through steel plate with ease. My biggest complaint and the reason for 4 stars is I hate that the saw doesn't have a handle for the guard. Try to start a cut on certain things can be a real pain and the only way to get going sometimes is to "bypass" the guard which, is not the safest thing, but I think I can modify it to have a handle for the future. Wear proper eye protection!!! This thing will sling some shards, much more than even a large grinder does, they are dangerous. The chip catcher does work well but it does not catch all of them

Works well after you fix it.
This saw cuts steel quickly and cleanly. Cuts don't require much finishing. The motor and gearbox seem well enough made. The chip collection in very effective. I have cut up to 1" thick steel plate with this. It handled it without issue. You do have to slow your feed rate with thicker metal to avoid overloading the motor but this is expected and is still faster than any other portable mechanical metal cutting method I have used. The negatives have to do with the fit finish and function of the saw plate and attachment mechanisms. I had to take the saw plate off, and de-burr mechanism parts, where sharp edges cut into the aluminum casting, where the front handle and angle adjustment are, to get the saw plate to tilt freely over it's full range of motion. The angle scale is a sticker and not engraved. I had to move the sticker to make accurate readings possible. I had to de-burr holes in the saw plate so screws would sit at or below flush. The depth adjustment is poorly designed. It has a long dog leg at the bottom of the slotted bracket, which means that with only two mounting points (the depth adjustment lock and the rear saw plate angle pivot point) there is a lot of flex between the saw motor unit and the saw plate. It would have been much better to move the depth adjustment lock rearward and have a straighter slotted bracket. The motor extends quite a way to the left which makes using a hand held speed square as a guide fence awkward. I only bought this saw because it was the only one I could find at the time that allowed bevel cuts through 2" material at 45°. If I was buying now I would get the Fein slugger 9". It addresses most of the issues I have with this saw while maintaining the same functionality for only a little more money.

Go slow on the cuts or you'll be sorry.
Saw is awesome, feels a little awkward, takes time to get used to it.love the laser its easier to see where you need to be,I finally wore out the first evolution I have, sad thing is I just put a brand new updated blade on and then the saw quit on me,don't know if updated blade is better(cause it has more teeth) and is 7.25,my new saw is bigger and old saw is first series that they don't make anymore and can't get parts for.

This thing is amazing
A little bigger that a circular saw but it eats through 1/4" diamond plate like it was 3/4" plywood. And the finish is almost polished. Cleaner than any other method. Well worth the investment. The only caution would be visibility of you cut while sawing. This is a big saw.

Thought it was going to be a good saw!
What I thought was going to be a really good metal cutting saw for my business, maybe not so good. When I received the saw the laser light did not work so I called Evolution (Very nice people) and they gave me an RGA to send it back . I was puzzled that they just didn't send me a new saw and not a repaired saw. I did receive it back in a timely manner and the laser light was repaired. Then after using it for a couple weeks and cutting some fairly thick plate steel 3/8" and it cut like butter. I was cutting off a metal door (two layers of 16 ga. steel) the motor started smoking. To me that means it is burning up. HMMMMM! So I called Evolution back again, and again very nice people and they sent me another RGA to send the saw back again. So this time I either hope they send me a new saw or refund my money. I so wanted this saw to work for me, but at this point I'm going to be a little worried that it will burn up again. Oh also when I received the saw back the first time the carrying case was cracked on the back corner. It must of got man handled in shipping. So I hope they give me a new case. Will let you know how this all plays out, because I really do want the saw to work for me. Thank you, Mike, Huntington Beach, Ca.
