Wonderful, easy to read and understand great text and pictures, learning religion for kids

I just converted to Islam about 3 months ago and this book helped a lot. It teaches you how to pray, our purpose in life etc. overall this book is excellent

My daughter used this as the text for a class in Islamic Studies. I read this book also as I have a general interest in learning about world religions. As in most religions, Islam also has Immams, scholars, practitioners and defectors, many of whom disagree with each other on history and interpretation of many of the topics in this book. That aside, this book provides an overview of Islam from the author's and the editors' perspective. It is fair as a published work and I feel educated by it although I have no basis to know if everything I learned in this book is fact or just something beleived by some or many Muslims. My main criticism is not with the book but with professors who would use this as a textbook for one main reason: unless I missed it, there are no citations or references in this book about any of the historical claims. that is not appropriate for an academic setting.

Excellent book for anyone who wants to learn fundamental teachings, history and beliefs of Islam. Easy to read, solid and trustworthy information.
