The plastic quality is why I took off a star, it's not what appears in picture, but instead a lucite / see through color and brittle enough it might break if one is not careful to handle. I told my 7yr old to make sure it goes right in school pouch and be careful. For what it is I took another star off for price, seems high for quality. Positive side, it's simple and sharpens smaller crayons and pencils and to avoid any explosion of sharpened pieces, you do it right over the trash bin.

I bought two of these for my kindergarten classroom for the students to sharpen their crayons. So far they are working nicely and are used almost daily. They seem to be solid thus far. The students are able to hold them in their hand and sharpen their crayon over the waste basket so the shavings go into it and not make a mess. We like them.

This pencil sharpener doesn't sharpen very well. It is one of those sharpeners where either the pencil doesn't fit in the hole or it just strips the wood unevenly. Okay for pencils because they are not big purchases, however do not, under any circumstances try using this on a makeup pencil, not worth it.

I gave this 3 stars because it is not comfortable to use. After sharpening 24 colored pencils I got a blister on my thumb.

Handles "regular size" crayons just fine, but chokes on the fat crayons for little kids.Agree with other reviewer, it's easy to clean out afterwards.

Gets the job done for sharpening my 3 yr olds multi-sized crayons.
