Kair Bull-Nose External Vent 100mm - 4 inch Rear Spigot Stainless Steel Grille with Louvres, Fly Screen and Drip Deflector

I fitted this internally above a cooker which previously had a plastic vent and external extraction unit, this looks much smarter and is far easier to keep clean. Good value as well, other places selling at twice the price.

Used this with the kitchen extractor ducting, really improved the external aesthetic of the house. Easy to install and well made.

I've purchased and installed similar looking external ventilation cowls before, but this one had a couple of important features that sets it apart from the crowd — and also makes it worth a few extra pounds.Firstly, although not really a 'feature', it's easy to handle because it doesn't have razor sharp, poorly finished edges. A very similar looking model I'd previously fitted needed to be handled with gloves hands to prevent cuts from all those sharp metal burrs.The addition of the black rubber ring, that sits around the outer edge of the installed cowl. It serves a couple of important purposes:1) It creates a better weather/insect proof seal between the cowl and the wall (though I would also recommended adding a decent bead of sealant between the pipe and the recessed parts of this cowl to prevent anything that does sneak through from getting into the pipe);2) It limits the transmission of noise from outside to inside, especially the drumming of rain on its metal surface. Of course it's also a good idea to install a foam baffle inside the ventilation pipe if external noise leaching inside is a concern. Purpose made baffles can be bought on Amazon, though, it's pretty easy to make one from an off-cut of foam insulation board (use the same core drill used to make the hole through your wall to cut a piece of insulation. Poke some holes through the insulation to allow air to flow — the more/bigger the holes, the more air/noise — then install the insulation disc in place. Alternatively, cut a couple of discs, poke off-center holes into them then install them with the holes off-set, meaning that any noise coming through will not have a straight path to be transmitted but air will still flow freely).The main photo in the listing doesn't show it, but there's also a small drip guard included; a piece of metal designed to stop water from running off the cowl and down the wall beneath it. The only small criticism of the item I have is that there are no clear instructions showing how/where to actually install this part! I even went as far as writing to the manufacturers (who, sadly, failed to respond). However, a fellow Amazon customer recommended shoving it between the rubber seal and the wall (loosen the two screws holding the fuel to the wall, slot the drip guard between the rubber seal and the wall, gently re-tighten the screws, the pressure from the rubber ring will hold the drip guard in place).The attached photo shows mine installed — there's still a bit of a gap between the rubber seal and the (very uneven) wall, but I'll put a bead of black roof & gutter sealant around the edge to finish it off. Or, if you're skint/prefer it, a blob of sand/cement will also do the job.Again, unless you knew what you were looking for, this cowl would look almost indistinguishable from a cheaper version listed on Amazon. Having experienced installing both types, I would not hesitate from either recommending or purchasing another one of these Kair models.

Product arrived on time, was easily fitted and looks good. It is a massive upgrade on the plastic grill it replaced.Very happy with it.

I had been struggling with back draughts coming in through my kitchen extractor. I don’t know if it was worse because I have a 6” extractor hose and exit compared to most domestic ones being 4”. I tried a standard slatted type of cover and the wind just blows straight through, I tried the ones where the slats open when in use and fall closed when not in use but the rattling of the slats in the wind absolutely did my head in. This on the other hand may look slightly industrial on the side of your house, but I am good with that because it does a great job of preventing the wind coming back through it. Yes it’s more expensive than the plastic ones, but in my opinion definitely worth it. I presume that if you have a prevailing wind usually coming from the same direction, you could rotate it when mounting and direct it away from the wind, which would help even more, but mine is mounted in a location where the wind swirls with wall, 6ft fence, gate etc, so it just faces down and has made a huge difference. It also has a fly screen built in too which I also think helps cut down on the wind (definitely wind noise), but certainly helps prevent flies, wasps, bees etc climbing in which would be the main purpose.

Excelent product all as described arrived on time, spigot fits inside a 100mm internal dia pipe. Only problem is the fixing screws are too near the edge which is a problem with most cowls/grills.However It does look good.

Bought this to replace another plastic cowl vent for our ac. Easy to fit and looks great. All in all very happy with it
