Gerber para knife

Looks like a well built knife. Smaller than I expected. Looked to be sharp. Gerber always makes good knives. This was just smaller than want I needed. Was returned.

Great Gift — Compact and Reliable!

I gave this small Gerber folding knife as a gift and it was a hit! Solid build, sharp blade, and easy to carry. Perfect for everyday use or tossing in a tool kit. Definitely a quality, practical gift.

My favorite small knife (after a month)

I'm no knife expert. Definitely not a knife snob. I'm not using this knife for survival or defense...I hang it inside my pants pocket and use it to cut stuff. If that is how you plan to use it, I recommend that you give it a try.I really like this little knife. I wasn't sure if I would like it, but the ridiculously-low price enticed me to give it a try. After using it for a month, I wouldn't have been disappointed if it had cost a few bucks more. It came reasonably sharp (not shaving-sharp, but paper-slicing sharp) and has held that edge for the short time I have been using it. It is light. My cheap kitchen scale says it is 1.4oz or 40 grams, so it weighs about the same as $1.75 in quarters. For being so small and light, it feels quite solid to me. It opens smoothly and has no wiggle in the blade when locked open. It looks like it has a (nylon?) washer next to the blade to keep it snug and smooth. Hopefully that will last for a long time because I imagine the blade would wiggle a bit if that wore out.I saw several reviews that said it can't be opened and closed with one hand. I didn't find that to be true. It would be lot lot easier to open 1-handed if they added a thumb stud or extended the back of the blade, but I don't have a lot of trouble with it unless my fingers are slippery. In any case, I find it easy to close with one hand. Not always the case with lock blades. The one problem I have with this knife is the center hole on the side opposite of the clip is large enough to get a fingertip into when digging around in your pocket. It is POSSIBLE to nick your finger on the blade if you're not careful; not too likely, but possible. I find that clipping the knife inside my pocket at the top makes it easier to find and makes it less likely to nick my finger when feeling around in my pocket. I haven't actually cut myself yet, but buyers should be aware of that until Gerber changes the frame design.Overall, this has become my favorite small knife for everyday carry. I also carry the tiny Swiss Army Classic, but this knife is much better for cutting things more substantial than an apple. If you're on the fence, just give it a try (before they realize they could charge a few dollars more.) I'm buying another in case I lose this one.

Light weight and sharp.

Sharp out of the box, nice and lightweight with a sturdy clip but I will be removing it to use strictly as a back pocket knife. Overall satisfied.

Great every day carry knife!

I’m really impressed with this Gerber EDC knife! It’s small, yet fits perfectly in my hand, making it comfortable for everyday carry. The blade cuts smoothly and is incredibly sharp right out of the box. It’s become my go-to tool for quick tasks, and I couldn’t be happier with this purchase. Highly recommend it for anyone in need of a reliable, compact knife!

Great little all purpose pocket knife

Love these little knives. I work in maintenance and having a nice sharp, small knife is a necessity for so many reasons. These things ship wicked sharp and stay that way for a good long while with little to no upkeep- and as a bonus, when I inevitably leave them behind on a job, they’re cheap to replace!

sharp little knife, but too hard to close

What should be a decent (even very good) little knife at under 1.5oz, unfortunately is very hard to close without using a tool (like a screwdriver) or endangering your hands. Two main complaints:* Hard to close: The "frame-lock" mechanism uses the a structural part of the hilt to reinforce the blade. Awesome as far as there's no chance of the knife closing accidentally or blade twisting unexpectedly. But when it's time to CLOSE the blade, you have to push that piece aside, which is VERY hard to do with your fingertips, unless you also torque the blade end of the very sharp knife (no thanks).I found I had to use a flat-blade screwdriver while pressing the knife against a solid surface to apply enough pressure to safely move out of the locked position. Also no thanks.* No blade-guard. With such a short handle, it would be very easy to slip your hand onto the blade if trying to cut anything stubborn (say rope, rather than fruit). The handle should be a little longer (or thicker) for adult hands, or there should be a bump-out to protect your hand.Pictured: In an adult male hand (size L/XL winter glove)Needing a tool to close my tool seems wrong. I guess I should have been clued in by needing a tool to open the package the knife came in-- the perforations are just decorative, you have to cut it open...if only you had a knife handy! Not every reviewer struggled with closing the knife, so maybe there's a lot of manufacturing variance? Or some of us are weaklings? Dunno, but I'm going to return it & try a Gerber that doesn't have this "frame-lock" feature...
