Smells so good!
I have tried many more traditional Indian style incenses over the years and wasn't really a fan. Over the past winter I found some decent sticks that I began burning more regularly. I stumbled upon Shoyeido after doing a lot of reading and am now a huge fan of the Japanese style. The Cherry Blossoms scent is pleasant and on the lighter side. It has a bit of a fruity odor to it and is just really pleasant to breathe in. I love the way my rooms are left smelling after burning a stick. Working from home since the pandemic broke out has left me searching for ways to elevate my environment and several scents from Shoyeido are certainly enhancing my home experience. These are not overpowering like every other brand I have tried in the past. I also don't get the headaches I typically get from burning other brands, so I know the ingredients are natural. If you are new to the brand, I would recommend purchasing a couple of their sample packs first. I picked up two so I could try each daily scent and after making some notes, burned the second sample pack to confirm my notes. I really like Autumn Leaves, Moss Garden, White Cloud and Cherry Blossoms. I also picked up River Path which smells amazing, it's just too expensive for my daily use.

Delicate and spicy
Shoyeido's Kyoto Cherry Blossoms Incense comes in a bundle of 35 slender sticks. Even without lighting them, you can smell the fragrance coming from the box! I love it, because a friend of mine once sent me incense from Japan as a gift and this reminds me of her thoughtfulness and the sweetness of friendship. The box is very pretty and comes with instructions for use. I presently do not have an incense burner, so I placed the stick in a glass near my sink.I will go on a hunt for an incense burner immediately (this was just for reviewing purposes). I can smell the scent all the way down at the other end of the house! The ingredients are comprised of: sandalwood, clove, patchouli, benzoin, spices. There are no synthetic oils or fragrances This incense is made the way it has been made for years. If you want to try incense and are considering Japanese incense as your choice instead of Tibetan or Indian, try this and see what you think! I find it to be quite spicy (no, it doesn't smell like cherry blossoms), yet delicate and very soothing.

Good, but doesn't smell like cherry blossoms
Very interesting smell. Doesn't smell a thing like cherry blossoms, but the smell is still very nice. The cinnamon and benzoin are very obvious. It's a great combination and makes this one of the best cheaper Shoyeido incenses. All around lovely. Just wish it truly smelled like cherry blossoms.

Hints of leather.
Unlit, the incense smells almost like curry. Before lighting it, I thought I had made a huge mistake by purchasing it. After lighting though, the scent does a complete 180. When set alight, it has somewhat of an earthy smell to it. To me, the fragrance seems to have hints of leather. By far my favorite incense from Shoyeido!

when it's not burning it stinks horribly like perfumed soap; smells good when it's burning
This just came today and the first thing I noticed was the box stinks horribly, like cheap grocery-store perfumed soap. I took the incense out and it definitely doesn't smell as bad as the box, but I had to throw the box and the shipping package outside because they smell so bad. The incense has a little bit of that soap stench; I have to keep it in a zipped plastic bag. When the incense is burning it doesn't smell like soap or perfume at all. It's very nice, sometimes smells like wood burning. Unlike some incense, I feel like I could burn this very often and it wouldn't get to be too much. The smoke seems to be less dense than others I've used, and the smell is not intense at all. But when it's not burning... yikes! After I got through burning it I left a portion of a stick outside of the plastic bag; an hour or so later I came back and the room had that horrible soap smell. So I definitely have to store it in the bag. Because it smells good when it's burning and smells horrible when it's not, my feeling is that the seller had this incense stored with other perfume-y smelling incense and it picked up that smell but I don't really know that. I would try buying it again, but not from the same seller.

AMAZING cherry blossom smell, long lasting, good value
the sticks are skinnier, but. you get plenty. even if you didn't, the scent is worth it! not your average incense - this smells way way better and burns much cleaner than any incense i've tried. The smell is not overwhelming at all - it's like a candle but slightly stronger. I'll be hit with the scent very nicely and forget that it's the incense, wondering what smells so good! i live next to a ton of cherry blossoms but the pandemic has me inside - these made me feel like i was with the cherry blossoms <3

Wonderful company with natural, light scents
This is one of the only scented product companies that doesn't make me sick to have around. This wasn't my favorite scent but it is pleasant, though not as floral as I expected. It seemed very strong to me, but then again I am overly sensitive to smells to begin with. Half a stick will fill the room with it's scent for hours. Goodluck finding the best scent for you!

Great & correct product was received one day late as estimated by Kitchen Virtue. Unfortunately, packing by Kitchen Virtue was kind of disappointed because two out of 35 sticks were broken inside. Improvement should be appreciated.

I love the Shoyeido incense, but prefer the plum blossom. I don't think this is a pleasant scent and I can't detect the cherry blossom in it.

Unlike what the title may suggest it is different than what people would expect. I am new to japanese incense but apparently they have a culture of creating more heavy and grounding aromas as well as the sweat and refreshing. This one is particularly salty and spicy with a fine touch, not for evetyone's taste, but good quality non the less. When I use it in a combination with the more sweeter and lighter types the result is amazing. Suitable for dark rainy or winter days and bad moods. Good for grounding. Takes you to your gut.
