Canine Medical Massage: Techniques and Clinical Applications

Having read several canine massage books, this is by far the best I have seen! I have switched over to this book as the official textbook for the 100 hour canine massage therapy training I teach!

My furry kids used to see Dr. Robinson for pain management. Sadly, we moved away from Colorado and it is impossible to find the awesome care my dogs used to receive. Thank you Dr. Robinson for this book! There are great pictures and I love how everything is explained clearly to me.

I agree with the one other negative review of this book. There is one very short chapter on how to perform the different strokes, and the strokes they do show photos of are the simple ones such as effleurage and pettrisage. Then the author goes on to recommend strokes they didn't even describe how to perform. Sun/moon effleurage? No idea how to perform that. Scooping? No description whatsoever. The book is highly technical which I enjoyed, and for that I gave it a couple of stars. But to be that in depth and technical it is sorely missing a lot of information. The chapter on additional supplements is longer than the chapter on how to do the strokes. The supplemental videos are laughable, totaling less than 15 minutes of actual video instruction, and again not including all the strokes. For a book in this price range, I expected much more. I was sorely disappointed.

Not very detailed about techniques. When they were describing which techniques to use for a body part would use technique names that they had never described. The book also talked about a lot of other things besides massage. If you are new to massage techniques and want to use this book to learn, good luck. This is not the book for you. If you are experienced in massage techniques still not very helpful. It definitely was not up to the quality that the price and description lead the buyer to believe

I have older dogs and want to keep them as mobile as they can be for as long as possible. I tend to rescue them when they are older so I've inherited their limitations. The techniques in this book are very helpful in targeting my dogs' specific needs. Because I am not an animal medical professional, the guide showing body language and signs/levels of pain was very useful to me and my pups. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who wants a holistic approach to their dog's health and well being.

The best stuff available on the market and at a grand price.

I felt that the book was overpriced. I was expecting a much thicker book.

Fantastic book. I am doing a course on canine massage and it really supported my learning.
