this radio dose it all, I work in ER/EMS/SAR..can talk, listen to everyone at the same time. this is a real life saver.. Well built, easy to program. has taken lots of abuse and still going strong, good weather and bad..I plan yo buy a couple more of these soon..

I am quite pleased with my UV8D. It has clean audio, seems to be well constructed. Easy to program by hand. It has cross band repeat which ive used a few times (the radio gets warm after a while, so get a cheap fan to help keep it cool). There's nothing wrong with the new UV9 if you want to monitor aviation or public service (if there are any analog frequency users above 700 MHz). I'm buying the extra hi capacity battery for it.. Hurricane season is just a few months away. This will be my primary HT. Also, I left the plastic screen protector on. Doesn't affect my view of the screen.
