It is what it is. Could be better focal length wise but it does the job. Like most loops you they zoom you in, but not always as clear as wish. But overall met expectations and does its job. Not sure why Amazon asked be about a built in light for the review, because there is no built in light.

Had one of these in college years ago. Lost it somewhere along the way. Used it for looking at rocks. Works well, less magnification than the other 30X I bought so seeing stuff is somewhat easier, get a wider view.

Purchased for a friend
I habe not used this, and have my own Bouch & Lomb tripplette I've had since I eas a wee lad. My friend has seen and used my B&L, wanted one, (until he found out the prive), and I suggested he try one of these. He reports he is very pleased with it, even though it's much less expensive. Works great for examining small parts of plants
We used loupes in my field botany classes at college to examine small parts of plants, particularly flower parts, so I wanted to pick up a couple. This product fit the bill perfectly. Works just as well as the loupes we used in lab.
