Great SQL Administration Reference
There are so many books out there dealing with SQL Server that it can be hard to decide which one is right for you. This book was designed for those of us who maintain and administer SQL Server 2012. It is not meant for those wanting to learn how to write SQL, how to interact with SQL Server, or any type of development work around SQL Server. It's a reference book squarely targeted towards those of us, like myself, who must maintain and keep SQL Server running on a day to day basis. One of the strengths of this book is that it finally covers AlwaysOn in a fashion that you can understand! One of the most powerful features of SQL Server 2012 is AlwaysOn, yet it's one of the most poorly documented and confusing to understand concepts. The author does a fantastic job of walking you through what AlwaysOn is, and how to get it up and running. I used this book to get my first AlwaysOn Availability Group up and running in less than 3 hours.Without a doubt, this will be my go-to reference guide for SQL 2012 administration. Couldn't ask for a better book on the subject.

Great section on AlwaysOn
Unlike most books out there that only have a few pages covering AlwaysOn (most of which is diagrams), this book has a large section with lots of details on how to configure and maintain AlwaysOn Availability Groups. I haven't had it long enough to know how well it covers other topics, but this alone was worth the purchase price. I'm only giving it 4 out of 5 because it is a bit small in size. Think "Pocket Guide" but it's too thick to fit in any pocket so why not make it a full size book so it is thinner and/or has larger font?

Get up to speed in a hurry.
Its a good book to come up to speed quickly on SQL Server 2012. Its very helpful for DBA's that want to get the rundown on the lastest edition.

Started and satisfied so far.
An IT pro but not a SQL Server pro...as an admin that supports SQL Server 2005/2008 enterprise environments; I am very intersted in learning SQL 2012 and so far this book is not a gloss over and not a deep ocean of SQL internals. I recommend it.
