Decent hard drive.
I got what I expected a hard drive. the Hard drive was clean and it was installed in my system and has been working perfectly fine. I am a network administrator and have had no issues with the drive. It came to me in a prompt manner was sent in the proper anti static packaging. which is very important. over all I would recommend this product to anyone.Update I bought this product in 2017 it is now 2020 and it is still working. It has been formatted reloaded time and time again, Very good product. if you are looking for storage capable product this is the product for you. Do not load everything you have on SSD! SSD is faster but it is not as reliable as the Mechanical drives. I use the one I bought now for backups from my SSD. I am glad I decided to do this because I have owned 2 SSD's since I bought this drive. Glad I had that backup for reloading the image of my drive to the new SSD.

Great drive as long as you know what an OEM product means
This drive is probably not for you if you have no idea what Bulk/OEM means in the product title. It means that you'll receive just the hard drive in a plain cardboard box - no fancy packaging, no manual, no screws and NO CABLES whatsoever. You can save a few bucks by getting this packaging if you are assembling your own machine (in which case the motherboard and power unit likely include the necessary cables), or if you are replacing a SATA drive. If you are adding a drive to your Dell or HP or whatever branded machine, you will likely need to buy a SATA data cable and possibly a SATA-IDE adapter power cable. For me the drive works great out of the box. It's a fast and moderately spacious drive at bargain basement price.

Its good for refurbishing computers
1. No major issues. The product I got works great.2. Its currently Feb 2014, and the drive had a code date of mid 2009. This is the only worry. If you need to save money, this is perfect for keeping the cost of a refurbished PC down. I wouldn't buy this for stock, only if I had something to immediately put it in and use.3. I'd buy again

The Best Drive I used for smaller installs
I retired from my Computer Repair Business a few years back. I am Microsoft Certified IT Professional, Certified Microsoft Technology Specialist, Microsoft Certified Professional, Network Specialist, Apple & Android Developer.I Have Over 25 Years ExperienceI used Western Digital drives for everything from repairing my customers computers to my own computers both personal and business.I have replaced hundreds of hard drives over the last 25 years. Some because they failed and others for various other reasons like needing more storage space. I replaced Western Digital drives the least and mostly because customers needed more space. Their return system for warranty replacements is easy and quick to use if you ever have the need. Their are other great hard drives out there like this one you just have to be careful what you buy. Remember if you save pictures and other important information you want to buy a dependable drive like this one. This is a smaller drive but if you don’t need a bunch of space this one will work perfectly. They carry a 2 year warranty. ALWAYS make sure you keep 2 copies of everything like pictures, documents or whatever is important to you incase of hard drive failure. Make sure your extra copies are on two separate devices, like a external hard drive, flash drive or whatever suits your needs. Don’t put all your eggs in one basket as they say.I used this drive primarily for customers who didn’t need a lot of space but wanted a dependable drive.

Good, Reliable Drive for 1-1/2 Years Now
I ordered this drive from Amazon in November 2011 when my 4 year old Seagate drive started to fail. I was a Seagate fan, but when I was looking at new drives it looked like WD was more reliable. A few months later my son ordered the same drive and has had no problems in the past year. This drive has worked flawlessly for me and is very quiet. I have never had any error messages. I am getting ready to order the 1TB version of this drive for my new build. I recommend this drive highly.

No factory WARANTY!!!
Purchased on 11-13-12 from "YoKool"NOT WD ( Western Digital ) certified shipping package! (mine arrived in packed in bubble wrap, only wrapped 1 time, and not totally covered.( I have a photo of how it arrived)If I'd of mailed it this way to WD for warranty return,,,,they'd of refused it!It is NOT IN WARRANTY any longer ( they say it has a 2 year warranty) the date code says 12 jan 2010. And according to WD's website its NO LONGER COVERED!!!They need to correct their listing!I would of not bought out of warranty product! They use the WD Promo info as a listing for the item they sell.. ITS NOT THE SAME ITEM YOU GET!!!You get a BLANK, UN-Formatted, OEM drive in Sub-standard packaging! You have to use a DOS boot to run FDISK to format this drive BEFORE windows will see it ( dos will only format and partition 3gb) so after you finally get windows to see the drive you still have to run a program like " Partition Magic" to re-partition and get full use of the drive capacity. Then you have to format , then get a copy of your preferred OS and load it too...!!!WD consumer replacement drives come "Pre-Formatted" for NTFS !!!!Oh ya,, don't forget to test the drive for damage due it being shipped in a thin, 1 layer of bubble wrap !!!!! In a box with a SECOND drive so they could SLAM into each other!! I ordered 2...These are a real time waster! And a misleading advertisement..

Good deal for the price.
I purchased 2 of these drives and both are working as expected. A lot of the reviews questioned if they were really new but for the price I decided to buy anyway. I read the status of one and it showed 12 hrs.total use and 13 on off cycles. All of which I had probably caused by the time I got around to reading the status. They were clean and looked like new. I would buy again if I needed another drive.
