Creative Art Materials Caran D'ache Swiss Wood Pencil HB (348.272)

This pencil is made of some kind of fancy fragrant beech wood. When you sharpen it, it smells like fresh bacon, or maybe barbecue sauce. Almost too nice to use. I give them as gifts.

These are good pencils, but they're not Swiss made Caran D'ache pencils. (The pencil on the left is an actual Caran D'ache pencil I already had, and the one on the right is the imitation pencil.) The writing on the pencils I received is different, and the pencils smell similar to BBQ sauce.Caran D'ache's brown pencils smell like cinnamon after being sharpened. They did arrive quickly, and they get the job done, so I will be keeping them, but I'll be buying all my pencils directly from the Caran D'ache store from now on.

Absolutely love the pencil! It writes so nicely. It’s perfect for sketching as it’s a harder graphite. Strangely it also smells nice. Harder pencil so it does require a sharp sharpener!

It’s a gift so I haven’t used it. Delivered as stated though.

One of my favorite pencil for sure. Plenty of online review. The excellent point retention makes it very long lasting after sharpening.A couple of things.1. Price. This costs around $4 at full retail price (if you can find a Caran D'Ache boutique). The $10 price on amazon is pretty ridiculous.2. Size. It is slightly larger. So some complications with accessories (cap) and pencil sharpener. It doesn't fit my favorite KUM long point sharpener.If you can find one in reasonable price, highly recommended.

I am very particular with my pencils. I use them for writing. I was partial to German pencils (Stabilo, Staedtler), but this pencil is even superior to those. 13 dollars a pencil is too much, though. I buy them at my local art supply place, for 4 dollars each. Still very expensive for a pencil, but the pencil is worth it.

This pencil is perfect for doing drawings in my sketch journal. It's got nice weight to it and it goes on paper very soft but well. If you want a harder line, use a softer lead than this but once you use this pencil, you will be glad it's in your art arsenal.

This might be my new favorite sketching pencil, you can draw very lightly and get some dark lines too. The pencil is heavier and sturdier than others I have tried.
