Zebco Catfish Fighter Spin Fishing Rod

To be clear, this is a medium/heavy, 8-foot, two-piece spinning rod. It is not a combo. You are only buying the rod. Not sure why Amazon can't be a little more accurate in using pictures of rod/reel combos (like this one) where all you are buying is a rod?In any event, I bought this rod to get a little more distance casting for catfish from the bank. Paired with a 50-series spinning reel and 14-lb test line, I can easily cast a 2-ounce sinker over 80 yards. The rod is a Z-glass construction, which means it has a little less flex than a pure fiberglass rod, but more flexibility than a graphite model. For the price, this is a great buy. The rod has plenty of backbone to put serious pressure on a fish during the fight and still has enough flex to really make long casts. This rod also has a fairly long handle (comparable to a Shakespeare Ugly Stick), which makes casting and fighting larger fish a bit easier. That feature is usually lacking in cheaper rods like this. If you are looking for a medium/heavy spinning with the ability to make long casts this is definitely a good buy.

These arrived with NO reels so all we have are plain old poles. Not happy as what was pictured was not what we received.

Use it at the dam...high current and BIIIIG fish...strong sturdy pole....LOVE IT. hard to cast at first...but once you are used to it...its great...Raises a lot of eyebrows too

My husband absolutely loves it. We got a Okuma Avenger reel with it. He took it out to bear river for the first time and caught a catfish.
