God I hope this book doesn't matter to the rest of the series.
Honestly, it was an enormous disappointment. I absolutely LOVE The Completionist Chronicles. That said, I stopped reading this book at chapter 4. It made no sense and ignored the laws Dakota had set up for his own story and that was too aggravating for me to push through. From the second he showed Jaxon's full character sheet the story was ruined for me. Somehow someone with a decent wisdom score didn't figure out that their low charisma score was completely screwing them in game despite all the hints? Yeah forget that. Honestly making Jaxon a full time player rather than someone who was in the game only sometimes made it all so stupid and unbelievable. I really hope I didn't NEED to read this because I COULDN'T read it. If there are things I missed for not reading it completely I'm afraid it will have ruined the whole series for me, which would be a shame.

3.8 stars A bit awkward to start but once it gets going its pretty good
So this is a side story about a side character (Jaxon) in the Completionist Chronicles series which I found, initially, to be a lil' disappointing (I --REALLY-- wanted another book on the main character of the series) to even hear about at first. But I gave it a shot anyways due to Krout's other books being so good, and I'm happy I did. This story has a odd start to it which was initially rubbing me the wrong way. As a side character who popped up from time to time to add some flavor and comedy I liked him in the other books but in this one its all him all the time. And it was a little off putting at first since he seemed a bit one dimensional at first to me to get a whole book devoted just to him. However the book quickly shifts into gear once the quest begins and he becomes more interesting, at least to me anyways, when it starts to involve more action. And that is when Jaxon really starts to grow and/or become more interesting as a person. Also funnier too since there is more of a physical element to the humor he brings to the story rather than a verbal/dialog one IMO.Its kinda like with Chris Farley's humor where if you only had a audio version of it to go off of he wouldn't come across as all that funny but once you see him in action on video that you'll get it. Which sounds a bit odd I guess since I'm talking about a guy in a book, and not a video, here but its the best analogy I can think of that fits well enough.Krout's writing of the character's thoughts as well as the action scenes (which are descriptive and inventive enough to be fun to read without being a slog-to-read list detailing the hand, foot, toe, finger, etc. positionings juuust so like you get in some of R.A. Salvatore's stuff) are what make this book work so well and before I knew it I couldn't put the book down. And then "shortly" after that I'd read it all and now I'm stuck waiting for a new book again!!There is a little bit of main story line plot development towards the end but otherwise this is a great side story and now I'm kinda wishing some of the other support characters get one too.

Lefty and Terror new favorite characters
Rexus gives us amazing insight into the inner mind of Jaxon. I highly recommend reading it to find out his motivations, desires, and train of thought, because it is honestly fascinating. As someone with back problems I wish I had someone like Jaxon in my own life. I can't honestly begin to count the number of times after reading books 1 and 2 of the completionist chronicles I've sat and wondered "I wonder if there's a posture teacher near me. I wonder if that's even a real thing?"If you are on the border of "Should I read this?" Absolutely you should. I haven't laughed so hard in awhile, the way he interprets conversations is just so much fun. His understanding of how the game should be played is pretty unique, and he finds true l... Ok I may be exagerating that last one, but yes. This is not an entry into the series I would skip, you may otherwise become exceptionally confused come book 3 of the Completionist chronicles, whenever that may come out.

The funniest thing the author has written
A side quest in Dakota Krout's best-selling Completionist Chronicles series!Vengeful assassins. A treacherous companion. T-Rex Head Hands. After the Wolfman nation is shattered, Jaxon has enough spare time to advance his skills and specialize into a better class. Since Joe and his other teammates are either incapacitated or on a mission Jaxon does not believe in, the misunderstood chiropractor turned gamer strikes out on his own.The issue with creating your own path is that you have no idea what awaits you, especially when low charisma guarantees legendary misunderstandings. For Jaxon, that’s half the fun.Rexus is a Completionist Chronicles side quest focused on Jaxon and is meant to be read following Regicide. My Opinion: 169 pages, $3.99, Available on Kindle UnlimitedProbably the funniest thing that the author has written to date. This is a great side story that incorporates so many puns, awkward situations, and humorous banter that it’s a must read if you want to laugh. Getting to see Jaxon’s point of view of the game world that’s filtered through his amazingly low charisma score is worth the price alone. Add to that the buddy aspect and the many scenes that were written just to make a joke or for a pun, and this is just a gem of a story.Score: 8 out of 10

One of the more intriguing characters gets his own story.
If the character of Jaxon (the crazy, posture-obsessed acupuncturist) amuses you, then you will probably enjoy this. If he annoys you, then I would avoid this. The silliness that is usually present during all interactions with jaxon are in the story in even greater levels than previously - fair warning! This story takes place after the end of the 2nd main story (Regicide) and follows Jaxon as he heads off on his own to complete his own class quest. During the story, we see his stats which goes some way to explaining some off his behaviour and also hear more of his back story which also helps us understand him some more. A certain amount of crazy just seems to be a core part of him! This story introduces a new character that appears destined to be added to the main story but not reading this does not seem like it would affect the introduction of them into the main story too much.In summary, if you like Jaxon, read this. If you don’t then don’t!

Sidestory
Was expecting continuiation of Joe's adventures, but was surprised(pleasantly) that it's about the most extravagant character. It was funny, entertaining amd gave some more insight on the world. Hopefully this will help shape next books - maybe guild vs guild; I hope they take over wolfmen village.Unfortunately book is tooooooo dammmnnn shooortttt.I hope there will be more side stories about other characters in Joe's party. Thanks for another great read!!!!

very good continuation
Although it did not progress the main storyline it did add a lot of to flesh out the character of 1 of the party members, was so absorbed in this that i didnt really have time to be annoyed that it wasnt the main character we had followed so far.

An interesting side story to an interesting series
Jaxon is an interesting character with a very different approach to Joe, and the effects of low charisma were amusing to see firsthand. It was nice to learn a little more about the wolfmen, too.I hope to see more of Jess in future books.
