An Alright Workbook with Leftist Propaganda
If you want to brainwash your child with leftist propaganda, it's pretty good.Seriously, a few pages in, it asks students to match essential services that government is responsibleto provide... And then it proceeds to list things like housing, mental health, etc.Fortunately, my son has read the Constitution and said, "Isn't the government only supposed to, 'Provide for the common defense?' And can supporting, 'general welfare,' really mean all of these services?"And as much as I hate propaganda in children's learning material, I encouraged him to find out for himself with further reading of books related to the purpose of government. It's not my job to brainwash him either. If your kid is mindlessly answering these questions, it's a slow indoctrination. Just be aware. The other activities were alright.

HUGE Difference
Let me just say that I noticed a HUGE, HUGE, HUGE difference in my 7th grader this year! I bought this book for the first time over the summer and I am so happy that I did! We've noticed a huge difference in preparedness for school since using this work book. I bought one for my 6th to 7th grader and my 5th to 6th grader. For both of them, they knew quite a bit of the material covered in the school the first grading period - so they're ability to learn new things and to really focus on what was being taught was so much better.I like how each day has four lessons that focus on different subjects. The lessons get progressively harder, but are very well thought out. Each day is designed to take about 15 minutes, so there's not too much grumbling about doing school work over the summer.I'm very happy with this book and I'll definitely be buying these again!

Doesn't give any explainations, definitions, or formulas
At first, I really loved this book. I liked that it was broken down really simply into days, 4 subjects per day and sometimes a physical exercise.I stopped liking it so much after a couple of especially difficult math problems tripped us up. While the back does have an answer key, there is absolutely no explaination for the answer and no refresher text for the kids. It's ONLY work problems and answers.I had so much trouble trying to figure out how to set up the peanut problem into a workable equation that I had to text my husband at work lol. My daughter expressed exactly how she felt about the problem. Then we had ANOTHER reverse engineering question which was just time consuming and ultimately had nothing to do with understanding the terms.I know that math is not our strong point, but I just feel that this book would just be so much better if it included simple refresher sentences like "use this formula to solve the problem" or "these terms mean this" (like direct vs indirect object) or "here's a diagram to compare these" (my daughter missed the entire cell segment of science thanks to the forced shutdowns and couldn't answer the difference between a plant and an animal cell without having to Google pictures) or at least worked out some problems in the back for us poor parents trying to help our kids get the work done right. Ultimately, we wound up stopping after the first section (20 days of problems).

Helps prepare for the next grade over the summer.
Ordered for my 11 yr old daughter so she can do school work over the summer to prepare her for the 7th grade come September 2018. I really like the format of this book and that it also encourages exercise. It's bad enough there's usually so much homework during the school year that kids really are not left with time to head outside to just be kids and get in free exercise. The developers of this book understand the importance of exercise. My daughter does a few pages in the book everyday after camp this summer and if the weather permits she goes outside to ride her bike and or play with her friends. There's math, reading and vocabulary work in the book so her brain stays fresh and active and prepared for the upcoming school year.

My Trick to Get Kids to Do These
This is my first year using summer workbooks with my rising 4th and 7th graders, and it has been great! The workbooks have good, traditional, to the point assignments, although they include some things my kids haven't learned yet. I don't know if that's because they're not perfectly aligned with common core standards, or just because teachers didn't get through the entire curriculum due to covid and remote learning. At any rate, I've been happy to teach my 4th grader a quicker method for multiplying (to use in addition to the mental math they learned in school) and my 7th grader grammar (which he's barely learned in school at all). They've not only retained what they learned last year, but have gotten ahead of their classmates a bit.At first my kids balked at the idea of doing school work in the summer, but I used a carrot and stick approach that's worked great for us: they have to do their workbook pages before they can have screen time (typically at 4:30pm), AND if they complete their pages before lunch, they can have a bonus hour of screen time in the morning. This has been so effective that every single day of summer, they have done the workbooks immediately upon waking so that they can get to Animal Crossing or whatever.

AWESOME....DEFINITELY GET IT!!!
LOVE IT!!!....I get it every yr for my son 2 do during the summer...mon-fri at least 2hrs of school stuff which consists of his workbook and reading...he is going into the 6th...as u see i went up 2 grades....these books really help...keeps their minds working even thru the summer...and when they go back 2 school they are already ahead of the class because they learn the basics of it during the summer...it would be cool if they had a disc that came with it 2 show them how to properly work out the problems....I been outta school a while so I'm a lil sketchy....lol...but I think that would really help and be a great asset to the book...

I highly recommend these books
I thought I would get a lot of grief asking my kids to work on their summer activities book. I asked one sheet per day (which they are labeled) made it easier for them to digest. My oldest son actually enjoys it, and hasn't missed one day since we got it. The topics he doesn't know/ understand, he uses youtube or google to learn the lesson.I highly recommend these books.

Well organized
Kids enjoy going through this workbook.Parents don't have to pick and choose which pages kids should work on.Kids can go through the the pages by themselves from the start to the end.
