I love this. The opening is jarring
I love this. The opening is jarring, and as the two begin to get to know each other, I am drawn deeper. The secondary characters are well fleshed out and the Author has gone out of her way on terms of research. This is a wonderful Manga/Comic for anyone who wants to dive deeper in Celtic lores and superstitions along with Britain, Icelandic, Japanese, Arthurian and Christian mythology. It's well done, the magic system clear and consistent. Dragons, Fae, Hellhounds, and more to be found here. Love story is a slow burn, but one that makes sense as the characters don't mean to necessarily "fall in love" but settle for one another. Elias Ainsworth is mysterious, with his dog skull and antelope horns, he is alluring with melting into the shadows and labelled Thorn mage. Chise discovers she is a Sleigh Beggy or Slay Vega, a precious human who sits on the fence, her body attracting the supernatural and the ultimate engine for taking in magic. Lot's of detail, beautiful artwork, well-developed characters, and a storyline I can't quite predict at every turn. THANK YOU KORE YAMAZAKI!

I love this series, really I do
I read this series online and I immediately loved it!! I am so happy to finally be able to own a copy and support this wonderful author!! Her drawings are so detailed and the world she created is magnificent! In the back of the book theres even a diagram of the set up of Elias' living room, now THATS dedication! The only thing that really bothers me is a translation error (as far as I can tell, its the only one but its really stupid) they translated "Slay Vega" which is what Chise is referred to in the first chapter, to "Sleigh Beggy". Why they would even think that thats what the author was going for is beyond me, it just sounds so stupid it makes me actually angry. But other than that the book is great! The story is unique and really enjoyable filled with dark twists and heartwarming cute moments between Chise and Elias. The book arrived in perfect condition, it comes with an inserted color page of the cover and from what I can tell, the rest of it is translated rather well. I just hope that in the future volumes Seven Seas will change Sleigh Beggy to Slay Vega, though they dont mention it as often in later chapters I would like newcomers to the series to get the epic name and not the begging vehicle pulled by a horse. If you want a full review of the story I suggest either reading it online yourself first or going to any number of forums dedicated to manga review, I am positive you will love it though, regardless.

terrific manga and anime!
I am enjoying the anime, and delighted to discover the manga art is the same. Intriguing characters and story. I am looking forward to reading and watching more.

Intruiging! Ready for something new? Give this a try!
I would describe this manga as Intriguing fairytale oriented story telling with beautiful art & characters. It has a unique take on relationship building and I felt the narration with the same absorption as a novel. The first book in a series, the story starts out slow building mystery and intrigue around the Mage & the creatures drawn to the main character. I struggled to keep focus a bit at first but the story picks up towards the end and I'm glad I picked up the other two mangas that are out. Stick with it! This is sure to be a fun ride. If you're tired of the same old magical girl / slice of life / fantasy genres this story is one of its own. Off beat and fresh is the best way to describe this series without giving too much away. If you like Grimms original tales, you should enjoy this ride. I look forward to more from this artist.

Absolutely love this story about a lonely throw away who finds ...
Absolutely love this story about a lonely throw away who finds a home. Of course there are several issues one can take with that concept and the main character's immediate acceptance of her circumstances but I choose to see it as a story of hope and a journey of discovery of one's self. Both main characters will learn and grow and both have a desire to do so. The world and mythology are also quite intriguing and the art detailing is just phenomenal.

Wonderful
"Teach me Rahab. There's so much I don't know"Seeing a dejected Elias stand there with slumped shoulders because he "doesn't know how to people very well" is arguably one of the saddest (and most relatable) parts of any mange or anime I've ever seen.Again, very good character development and art throughout the book.

Very promising series!
I bought this on a whim with some birthday money because it was recommended to me from my buying history and I thought the summary sounded good. I was really pleased with the world and can't wait to read the next book. There are lots of secrets and history to be found here in the magical realm created alongside out more mundane one, and this first volume only served to give hints and start setting up relationships and conflicts now that we know the basic cast of characters. If you like Emma or A Bride's Story you'll love this, similarly if you're a Harry potter fan wishing to try out some manga this is a fantastic place to start!
