French Canadians, Furs, and Indigenous Women in the Making of the Pacific Northwest Bound to be a Best Seller
French Canadians, Furs, and Indigenous Women in the making of the Pacific Northwest by Jean Barman is one of the newest and best books on information about the indigenous women who went with their mates in the rugged Fur Trade. Many Tender Ties is another book that takes a look at the women and their role with the trappers in the Northwest. The author has done extensive research and cites her sources. Wonderfully written and illustrated with maps, charts, photos, and drawings this book is delightful and reads almost like fiction. Perfect for the history buff A++++++

Good work but focused on the Pacific Coast
Its a good book/research but be advised that it is very west coast centric so if you are looking for an in depth look at the inland historical picture (like Manitoba for instance) you will not find it in great detail like you will see for Oregon and points north.

Strength of Women
History that everyone in the NW would benefit from reading....if they care about why this part of the world is why it is today.Women's stories were not told frequently, however they were the strength that shaped the families that survived the struggles.
