Nice honing rod
This ceramic honing rod does a good job and getting that final sharpness to my knives. Itโs fairly long so you can take longer strokes. The quality appears good, and I believe a good value for the money.

Best ceramic sharpener I have ever had...
It will upkeep an already sharp knife sharp, quicker, longer... If you have a dull knife this is not for you...You might want to consider a 400/1000 whetstone from Amazon before using ceramic sharpener...

IT'S not a good SHARPING ROD!!!!!!
Not good at all, I work with it but the LANSKY ROD IN CERAMIC IT'S ALOT BETTER TO WORK AND IT GIVES A GOOD CLEAN AND SHARP EDGE TO YOU'RE KNIFE'S....

A good value.
The working surface is a full 8 1/2 inches long. The two different sides are OK but I would have preferred the "smooth" side to be the rough one and an even finer grain surface for the "fine" side so I could hone really keen edges.

... these reviews where people are claiming the quality is poor ".
Disregard some of these reviews where people are claiming the quality is poor "...it shattered", etc... It's a CERAMIC honing rod, it is brital by nature and will shatter (just like any other ceramic object) if you drop it. It is, however, perfect for honing all of your knives and will not put microscopic nicks and flecks in your knives like a steel honing rod will.

Lacking in quality and durability
I bought this as a replacement to my Messermeister ceramic sharpening stick that shattered when I dropped it on a tile floor and I'm very disappointed in the quality of this rod vs the Messermeister rod. It feels much much lighter and less premium in the hand and stains very easily. I use this product in a meat cutting room and after only a few hours of use it is no longer white, rather an ugly yellowish color. I attempted to clean it with no success. The messermeister rod not only didn't stain, but it was very easy to clean and looked brand new for many months of regular use. The ceramic used here is of much lower quality. It has grooves that run along the surface where as the messermeister rod was completely smooth. It does sharpen knives to an extent but there is just no comparison in quality between this product and the messermeister. Spend the extra ~$10 or so and get a much more premium product that will last far longer. (As long as you don't drop it on a hard floor like I did)
