Simple replacement
I was dreading getting a new remote but this was seamless and simple to program. Could not have been easier.

DirecTV charges $25 for this exact remote and it fixed my receiver
I have an ancient model D12 DirecTV receiver that was starting to act up. I had to press the remote keys hard to make the receiver pay attention. Sometimes, the remote acted dead - the lights on the Mode switch wouldn't blink when the buttons were pressed - sometimes. The volume, however, directly controls the TV and it worked fine. Batteries were changed a couple of times.In addition, the receiver acted like it was hanging. General weirdness.I ordered this RC66 remote (exactly like the one that I already have) because the lights were not blinking on the old one. When I installed the two included batteries and tried it out, it worked fine with slight button push pressure. The receiver was still acting up so I just rebooted it - powered off/on. Now, everything is working fine.The only thing I can figure, is that the old remote was stuttering and causing the receiver to get confused.In any event, this remote works perfectly. You will want to search for the remote codes that your tv uses so that you can program the remote. The DirecTV site has the instructions for programming it.Works fine. Price right. DirecTV charges $25 for this exact remote. You know that at this price, you really, really should have a spare - order two.I gave it five stars even though the two included batteries failed after exactly two days.

Awesome.There are no doubt a million unique and no doubt mostly humorous reasons to replace your remote, other than it just being old and grimy. Personally, I can attest to several being eaten by my dog(s). When they're teething and you forget and leave it on the bed, you come home to a seriously chewed ex-remote..."It tasted really techy!"The first time, I called DirecTV and had to wait a few days for the replacement to arrive. When I discovered that Best Buy carries the exact same remote (for the same price $25), the convenience factor made that a winner and I was ready the next time it happened as there's a BB about 5 minutes from me.But here I just ordered two of them for less than $15 and they are exactly the same remote... not *like* the DirecTV remote, not *similar* to the DirecTV remote... but EXACTLY the same. Yes!This has also enabled me to solve the ever-present question of "Where's the remote?""I thought you had it...""No, I thought you had it.""Maybe the dog is sitting on it?""Nope.""Well, keep looking, if I don't change the channel I'll go crazy: I hate this show."So, I've now solved such problems with the elegantly simple 'Brute Force' approach of having at least half a dozen of them. You will ALWAYS be able to find at least one of them.For the price of one replacement from DirecTV, you can have four of them. Great deal. Recommended.

This remote was pretty easy to set up. The only problem I have is programming the input button
