Irish Setters for the W
I just bought my second pair. These are super nice work boots. Look great and are not hard to break in. First pair last September 24 and they are still being used. They are in rough shape but they are still together. And I beat the hell out of them, they have been through water, mud, concrete, oil, sawdust ect. I highly recommend this boot for just casual wear because they look great or most of all work because they are made to last.

a comment about boit size and wide fit. 11-wide and new insoles.
This is not a full review it's just a short comment about size and fit. according to redwings sizing app on there website they recommended a size 10.5 medium. but i did not want to rist a tight fit around my toes with steel toes. so i orders a size 11-wide. size 11 ended up being good but i should of went with a normal medium. when i got the boots: one of the first i did was take out the ashby insoles 11-wide, and then place them next to my keen san jose steel toe insoles. They were almost a exact match. i had rockrooster insoles in the keen 11.5-wide. The length of the outline of my foot when i trace it on a piece of paper is about 11" inches. The length of the ashby insole is around 12" inches when i flipped the insole and measure the bottom of it from heal to toe . The reason i buy boots that fit a size larger is because when i stand on the insoles removed from the boots my foot is narrow around the heal area but my toe knuckle area is a little wider than the insole. i know if i buy boots tight my toes will rub raw against the steel toe. so a half inch or a full inch larger than my foot works best for me. i have not owned the boots long enough to have a comment about quality or comfort. like all leather boots they will take a while to break in. Good thick work socks help with the comfort when breaking in. <strike> I have no plan on using the insoles that came with the boots i used the insole to trace the shape onto some timberland insoles that i normally use. those large orange timberland insoles are pricey but very comfortable and usually last me around a year before my big toe eats threw the top felt layer but they orange bottom layer still holds together a while longer . i ended up not using the timberland insole. after a couple of days the boots fitted me more like of my keen san jose 11.5wide that i use thick rockrooster insoles in. the rockrooster insoles are the large size 10-11 ones. the extra thickness lifts the foot up high tighter to the boots leather uppers. makes for a tighter fit so i dont have to crank down so tight on the laces to make the boots fit my wide flat feet. </strikes> I ended up not using the rock rooster insoles. i placed the ashby insoles back in and then also layered the timberland pro insoles onto for a extra layer of cushion. Now i can feel my heal area sink into the insoles when i walk with a hard heal strike. nice and soft now . i did have to change the lacings so that i can wrap the laces around the back of the heal to fit tighter. im trying to avoid heal rubs and blisters. (i should of gotten a 11-medium). but i can probably make this setup work . maybe in month of every day walks i might change my mind . For now i still like the fit of my keens better. my TWO different keen san jose boots are comfortable but they dont last very long before the glued outsole starts malfunctioning and separating from the top leather. Im hoping these good year welted Ashby (black) boots can last a year or two. Next year i will decide if i go back to keen or stay with irish setters. i work at a warehouse indoors and on concrete most of the day. i dont need heavy duty boots. just some thing comfortable with safety toes . note i also have rockrooster vap611 soft toe moctoe boots that super comfortable but they did not have a safety toe in the style and colors i like. rockrooster is like most Chinese boots they make the toe area to tight. i ended up leaning towards American companies because people commented in videos that keen had a wide toe box area. Same thing goes for irish settler / Ashby's. we are limited when it comes to under $200 good work boots from companies with a solid reputation . i dont work outdoors so i am not in need of $300 heavy duty boot. but i do lean towards danner bullruns (black) if im going to spend that type of money . after wearing the Irish setter ashby i can say the toe box is not as wide as keen san jose . my big toes rub a little on the side of the steel toe . it's a good thing i have thick callus there already from my other boots and shoes. lol. my problem with wolverine i-90 is the same problem with thorogood . they have to many different styes that Amazon recommends 100 different soft toe boots when I'm looking for steel toes work boots. not soft toe fashion boots.

Best boot I’ve ever owned
These are the most comfortable boots I have ever worn. They kinda sucked at first because of the top band on the back rubbed the bottom of my calf for a few days till they broke in but that’s really with any pair of boots I’ve ever bought. I will most likely buy these again. I go through about a pair a year. Truck driver/diesel mechanic in the bulk cement world. So far the past few months they have held up great. I haven’t had them submerge in water yet but but walking in water a few inches deep they kept my feet dry. Also very true to size.

Disappointed
My son loved these boots and still does but for the price they have held up good at all. He already has wear in them wear the whole steel toe is exposed . Just disappointed after saving up his money for them and less than a year later of wearing them 2 a week in fall and winter months they already are so worn .

Comfortable boots.

Great boots, that are comfy out fo the box, delivered much earlier than predicted. Finally a work boot (with toe 'tectors) that don't look like some remedy for a medical condition!

These don't have the green patch because they don't meet puncture resistance ratings, however they are what you expect from Red Wings - well built and comfortable. If you can find a better made boot for that price point let me know..

I've been in the construction industry for quite sometime and these are the lightest safety boots I've ever worn.

Item received within a week. Sizing is smaller then normal US size. I took half size down and fits nicely. Despite ordering the wider size, my feet still felt a slight squeezed at the toe box. Overall built quality is good and will put it to a test.
